No they don't. Howard's off the books. And if Durant commits to here, I wouldn't be surprised if Howard takes a paycut. We can keep all 3. I'm not saying all of them will be here by this time next year, but they don't NEED to be traded.
Has any free agent, with such a thin resume, gotten a full MLE offer? Not counting established foreign players?
If Howard doesn't opt out, trade him. But he will. He's smart enough to know that he will have to if he wants to help improve this team. And I don't see him jumping ship here.
Except it's not against the CBA. 4yr/$40mil is the max offer a team can make. Although no one's going to offer that. They aren't even going to offer the full MLE as you seem to believe. Same reason why Troy Daniels got nothing on the FA market last year. Teams don't pay money on raw talent.
I honestly do not see how. The Rockets obtained him for a single second round pick in the middle of last season, and McHale just shut him down. There is so very very little for other GMs to go on. He was a rookie and no one has any idea how to evaluate a player's performance on a road kill franchise like the Sixers. There bad players seem like average players and average players look like stars. But honestly I have no clue, as the salary offers this off season completely befuddled me.
KJ McDaniels is a new sort of case. Taking the minimum offer as a second rounder and going into free agency, hoping to get paid based on potential (which, athleticially at least, he has plenty of, not so sure about his skillset). Think of it like paying for a draft pick almost; we paid $2.25m for Llull's rights for example before they had lower cash limits on trades.
has amir johnson ever dreamed to get 12 mil per or Correy Joseph 7 per ? Please..this is the new market.
If Howard doesn't opt out or he re-signs for the $23 million he's on the books for.....he'll be taking a paycut. And that still ain't enough to sign Durant to a $25 million starting salary which is approximately what he'll be eligible for at a $90 million cap. Dwight will be eligible for a deal starting around $30 million. So if Dwight re-signs at a starting salary of $23 million, that's a substantial paycut already. One (or more) of Bev, Brewer, Ariza is going to be traded between now and next summer. Bank on it.
Yeah, and if you're getting Durant, that's really not a big deal. All 3 of those guys will be movable next summer. Even if we have to include assets (we won't), who cares at that point?
Cory Joseph isn't good enough to have a nick name like COJO. I am sure part of the reason they signed him is that he is Canadian. I don't think they deal Lowry, it is very hard to get all star talent to sign there. Dwight Howard will opt out of his contract because someone will give him 4 yr max. Kevin Durant isn't signing with the Rockets. .
