    LMAO this is exactly what I did!

    I really do not like The Rock as an actor, he's not good. (although I do think he's genuinely a cool dude and good guy in real life)

    The original was only good because it was stupid but had balls. They can't really **** it up by remaking it.

    I'd like to see Johnson try to match Russell's take on that character. Kurt played it so well purposely over the top. The Rock doesn't have the acting chops to pull off Russell. And, for that reason, I'm out (i.e. rental)! I was watching some of this movie last night as it was on. Funny thing is I was also watching the Robert Rodriguez's El Rey Network channel (one of my new faves) on DirecTV and there is this director interview show called The Director's Chair with director interviewing director. They talked a lot about this film when he was interviewed. He said it was a blast to make. I also watched a two part interview with Quentin Tarantino last night...which was pretty cool. I find that show fascinating to watch to get insight into the directors. I guess it's been around for a bit but I just found this channel and show.

    Everybody complains about how they hate that Hollywood can't do anything original, but the box office consistently says the opposite.

    That said, I bet they are going to completely loose the kitchy tongue in cheek humor of the original and make a straight action film like Hollywood did with Robocop or Total Recall or (benifficially) the "Judge Dredd" redo. There is a subtle sort of ironic self lampooning that seems pretty endimic to the films of the 1980's and early 90's (for better and worse) that seems to be completely irreproducable in the current climate where everybody takes themselves so seriously.

    Or they could go the other way and just load it up with crude humor like the 21 Jumpstreet remakes.

    **** these 80's remakes. Turning treasures into trash. Now they are ****ing up the 90's with point break.

    Watched Red Dawn remake and that was enough for me....garbage.

    Jack Burton will always be Kurt Russell and you can't recapture the terrible goodness that is the original movie
