Good call... And will be a better call if he works out. Looks like we may see him this year either on the D-League squad or with the big boys.
http://www.houstonchronicle.com/spo...ads-Rockets-draftee-Capela-in-new-5602100.php From earlier this month, but it's interesting to hear how he transitioned from soccer to basketball. It turns out pretty good last time we had a player with simiar experience
ohh boy, I thought he was 2-3 years from being ready? He's just over cause the Rockets need bodies. Hopefully he can give us 15 min a game.
I don't know about 2-3 years, but his measurements of size/length/athleticism is similar to Drummond. His translated stats is surprisingly good. Obviously he has to learn and adjust to NBA rules/games, but I'm not trading him now if I'm GM.
Haha...he doesn't necessarily need to add too much weight. He can be effective at PF position like Ibaka or Faried. As he gets older with more strength, He could play more center. Based on scouting reports, Very likely he'd catch the ball and finish better than Asik from the beginning. I know it's not saying much though.
Thanks. Davis is more similar in body type. I think Capela's development curve maybe more like Drummond - good at rebounding/defense/finishing before NBA. Hopefully he can develop like Drummond did in NBA.
I haven't seen much tape on him but from what I've seen _ if his defense can translate immediately he should be of some use this year to the Rockets. Defensively he doesn't have much competition in front of him.
Looks like a poor mans Drummond/Ibaka. A year in the RGV to work on the fundamentals and get stronger will do him well, assuming he is mentally tough enough to put in the work to translate his awesome athleticism.
Capela needs to find his jumpshot and he could be another Ibaka. His is really not that bad he just needs to practice a 1000 jumpers & threes a day from no until training camp. His passing sucks too.
He looks very lost on defensive rotations in the paint. He needs to work very hard. A poor man's Ibaka sounds right.
He's looking more and more like the heir-apparent to Dwight. His play off the bench has been huge and he's only just beginning to shine. The experience in the playoffs will pay huge dividends for the Rockets. I'm so glad we got him, but he does still need to bulk up a bit.
Howard and D-Mo starting and Capela and T-Jo or Smith relieving -- that's going to be awesome. Capela has the hops, talent and desire to be a mini-Dream if he continues to develop at the pace he is on. My only fear is that Morey will get trade happy again and send him to another team.
