I really think we are about to see the mavs dismantle big time. -rondo out -monte leaves -dirk retires in a year or two -parsons takes that player option next year and leaves(I think he'll try to come back to houston) -Carlisle leaves(I think he's even in **** this **** mode) I want to see how this plays out for Cuban. I don't think we will see the mavs in the playoffs the next few years unless they bring big name FA, but anyone watching them is probably like"**** that I'll go to houston or San Antonio"
Eh...don't overestimate their demise. 2 games is two games. Even if they lose this series, it's still just a series. They still have a good coach and an owner willing to spend money. There's no reason to believe they are going to become a dumpster fire.
That Lamar Odom trade helped us land Harden: The Mavs still owe the Oklahoma City Thunder a top-20-protected pick, an asset the Mavs originally used to get Lamar Odom (oops) from the Los Angeles Lakers, who traded it to the Houston Rockets, who used it as part of the package to land James Harden. http://espn.go.com/blog/dallas/mavericks/post/_/id/4700007/that-pesky-pick-from-the-lamar-odom-deal
Maybe not a dumpster fire, but short of landing a big time FA, I cant see how they will even be as good as this year next year. And this year, they were not that good. At least not title contenders.
So, I’ve been thinking about the Boston/Dallas trade with Rondo and I can’t help but think Cuban got played by Danny Ainge and Darnel Morea… If I recall correctly, it came down to a bidding war between Houston and Dallas with Dallas “winning” Rondo because they had more assets to give to Boston. I remember wondering why Morea was willing to give so much for Rondo all of the sudden when for quite some time all the rumors pointed to Dragic as his target. I also remember wondering why Ainge didn’t pick us. I mean, Morea worked under and was mentored by Ainge. Also, McHale and Ainge are very close. If anything, Ainge owes McHale one for KG trade. Now, I’m thinking Morey just kept bidding to help Ainge get the most out of Cuban. I don’t know though, It seem too diabolical for good guy Darnel Morea… I’m just curious what you all think.
