He gets way to nervous with the Rockets. Seem to always doubt himself once he gets on the floor. But once he gets passed that, he going to be a hell of a player.

I am incredibly high on Clint and have been since the beginning, though at that point it was more hope than anything.

He is advancing faster than DMo and Jones did.

Watching the two videos the guy seems to be ambidextrous. He made a nice hook with his left hand though he seems to prefer his right. He also blocked a shot nicely with his left hand.

His hands are already fantastic and that is very hard to develop. See Asic and even DMo who if nothing else doesn't have great strength in his hands. Clint's touch is superior too, which is more than you can say with Howard for instance.

I wouldn't be surprised if he dominates this year's Summer League.

By next trading deadline he might very well be Dwight's backup and only be available for the third star.

I agree with this. It's not like he needs to be prepared to be a brain surgeon. Grab ball! Block ball! That's all he has to do. Why can't he do that in the pros?

There's a lot to handle in the pros for a big man. Especially a very young an inexperienced one. Mostly defensive-scheme wise. It's a little disheartening that Capela wasn't able to spell us in the front court, but I'd chalk it up to the coaches/management not wanting to put him in that position unless the FC situation got even worse.

Dude's only a couple of years removed from HIGH SCHOOL basketball, Mchale is sweating about his front court and I don't think playing Capela is going to ease his mind.

I can't wait to watch him get minutes, though, if we keep him around.

I think Jack Sikma answered this. He needs to develop more core strength. Not unusual for a 20 year old big man. Sikma compared him to Chandler Tyson which I thought was both good and strange. I think Chandler is quite a bit bigger, though he might have been thin at that age.

The fact that so many people actually believe this crap is the reason a guy like Duncan is so underrated. Boxing out, rotations, positioning. How to defend the rim and screens without fouling. Not to mention knowing what to try and block and what not to. There are a million nuances to learn.

Defense is typically the last thing players learn, and for a big man it's the most important. And on top of that he has nerves and needs to add weight to bang with grown men.

It is quite obvious that he was playing in a very weak league in France. He is so far away from contributing, but it would be great if he could give us a few good games this year.

I don't expect anything from him though, for another year.

This thread is about one Clint Capela. For a thread about the aforementioned Nicholas Johnson, please redirect here: Nick Johnson to D-League...

Upon doing so good sir, you will find that you were beat to the punch.

Tyson Chandler was rail thin when he first entered the league, 220 dripping wet. He literally came up from HS tho.

I'm on the fence on what his ceiling is. I Really like what I'm seeing but it's hard to say how good he can really be. Athletically he obviously has skills, but I would be most concerned about his IQ and feel for the game. He gets a lot of block shots because he's tall and seems to have a knack, but how many of those guys have we seen in the league but not really be considered good defensively. If I'm another NBA team looking to deal Morey proven player I would most certainly ask for Clint. I Wonder how high Morey values him? With Dwight going through injuries at this stage of his career and his game peeked, I wonder how far off Clint is from possibly taking over. 2 more seasons after this year?

One of the gripes Bulls fans had about Chandler is he never put on enough weight while playing there.

Let him work with Hakeem and McHale for 1 or 2 offseasons. Man oh man.

Clint Capela looks like a quicker, taller version of TJones who needs to bulk up. He also seems to have the makings of a good jump shot. 5 of the future.

I always thought Capella was like Tyson Chandler/DeAndre Jordan. Rim protector. Havent seen much Ibaka in his gsme because there is no outside shot. In any case, at worst, if he is Chandler lite, then that is fine. A shot blocking C off the bench would be more than welcome.

Clint Capela is the shorter Boniface N'Dong.
