Per heather cox on ESPN, Mchale says it is unrealistic to expect the old Dwight back this season. Also said we are 7-10 days from an evaluation. Team doctor said after evaluation have to progress to pain free running and then contact practice before return.
McHale doesn't know jack, and that's coming from someone who's not expecting the old Dwight to come back. I hate that they keep asking him about the health of players. They're better off asking Morey.
Well with a max contract I say we SHOULD expect old Dwight although we have only seen him in the Portland series. We are not getting our moneys worth.
You guys think they're trying to set up to throw a curveball in the playoffs? Dwight might be throwing down some unreal alleyoops in a secret gym somewhere from Harden. Dallas or whoever we face might be planning on just bullying us under the basket in the playoffs but WAIT DWIGHT IS NOW OLD DWIGHT?!?
McHale isn't exactly a glass half full kinda guy. Better to set expectations low and be surprised than the opposite.
I honestly would have been surprised if he came back 100%. As long as he is a presence defensively, I still believe this team has a chance considering the massive improvements of the bench.
Unrealistic ≠ Impossible Not sure what the big deal is. All it means is you're less likely to see old Dwight once he returns, but that doesn't cancel the possibility of him returning to that old form in the future.
McHale is just sayin that and putting it out there so that other teams believe it and game plan and prepare without having a decent Dwight in mind. then bam - 19/14/4 in his sleep (i hope)
This news should be a surprise to nobody. I hope people are not holding out hope that Dwight is going to be his old self. He can still help the team but it is unrealistic to expect him to return to old form.
