Is this where we dump on Les Alexander for "crimes against humanity?" I'll pass. A hell of a lot of owners around the league make Les look pretty damn good in comparison.
When les inherited the rockets, he literally inherited a championship team . we were clearly the best team in Texas. I would never give him credit for clutch city. steve Patterson should have his picture up in les's office.
Rudy t is still in la and considers himself part of the lakers. A guy who was with the organization for over 30 years. I wonder why.
Oh what about the Rockets being on CSN. Where houstonians have to switch providers to watch the rockets. That was definitely a move intended for making fans happy and increase winning
The Lakers, Blazers, Knicks, Yankees, Red Sox, Dodgers, Astros, Dynamo, etc. etc. have all made similar deals. Again, Les may not know HOW to win, but the idea he doesn't care about winning and only wants more money is just plain stupid and that is beneath you.
Your saying money doesn't help you win and that's a damn lie. What about folks that don't have cable or satellite AT ALL. Those who used to watch on Paramount 20? Not everyone can afford a $80 cable bill. Without money you can't sign Harden and Howard.
When the Dragic decision was made, nobody knew that Dragic would blossom and nobody knew that Lin's average level of play would be that far from Linsanity. We had no Harden and no Dwight. Lin was going to be the go-to scorer. Something Dragic was not expected to be. It was the right decision at the time. To second guess it now is just being results-oriented.
This is not true. Linsanity was great but people where saying it wouldn't last especially after his collapse in Miami. You hear dnon stop talk of the turnovers even when Lin came and then Harden people were saying we still weren't a playoff team and they were wrong because Harden was better than everyone though. Even the President knew Lin wouldn't regularly do what he did in NY, lol. Dragic on the other hand was being complimented as one of the reasons Houston almost made the playoffs. Dragic sadly has been on middle of the road teams since then. One thing I don't understand is him seemingly not wanting to win and going for the money. If that's the case I don't want him here anyway. Lets try to get Lawson.
I never said that. Quote me where i say money doesn't help you win. so who's the liar? You. I said les cares more about money than winning. You can quote that.
In the context of the situation, we were letting ago a lot of our veterans and good players up for a contract renewal. Since without having Harden on that team 12-13 team we'd bad, like top ten draft pick bad, Morey wanted complete flexibility (no players option). Obviously, we'd probably be closer to or at GS's level with Dragic and Harden, but we still did pretty good.
Yup. This is what irritates me the most. Its funny how some continue to turn a blind eye towards Les when it is so telling...
Say we kept Dragic and Morey had dropped that Dwight Fantasy of his which he had going for so long. Imagine this lineup today (which we had in 2012 or whenever it was, then plus the draft that summer): Dragic, Lowry Martin, Lee Parsons, Budinger Patterson, Jones, Scola DMo, Jordan Hill That's actually a pretty good team (i.e. two all stars in Lowry and Dragic; MIP candidate in DMo; one of the league's better backup centers in Hill; a 20 ppg guy in Martin; a 3 and D guy in Lee; the 3-headed monster at PF; a rising star in Parsons; and a 3-point specialist off the bench in Bud). Not a bad team! However...fate chose for things to be different for the Houston Rockets and so now its the Harden and Howard show.
No way Lowry or Dragic is going to be happy as the backup. No way we pay two PG's over $20 milion. The rest are mostly solid role players.
