Whiplash and Birdman were the 2 best movies of 2014, in my opinion. Foxcatcher is worth watching for the performances, but the story left a lot to be desired.
Nightcrawler 10/10 On Par with the best movies of 2014. Such a shame this movie got no Oscar buzz. Jake G had the best performance out of anybody this year.
Totally agree, he really took his game to another level with this one. mann I would kill to see him play the Joker role in the new batman movies. he's effin brilliant
Would be interesting to see him take over for his former Broke Back ScreenMate I wonder what twist he would put on it. Rocket River
I watched The Theory of Everything. Solid but not spectacular. Acting really the only thing Oscar worthy.
Fury- 9/10 It's basically like 13 Assassins but with WW2 tanks fighting, especially towards the end there. What kind of fade does Brad Pitt have?
Europa Report It is a found footage movie, but it is easily one of the smarter and better ones out there. Reminds me a bit of Sunshine without the horror movie final act. 6.5
Touch of Evil - 6/10 For anyone looking for a classic it started off good, got a little slow in the middle, and picked up again at the end. Overall not bad.
It wasn't anything different than what you've seen from say, a Saving Private Ryan. But man the lead cast and their chemistry together was so damn good. And the tank battles were intense.
I can see where some people think it was just middle of the road, nothing new to see in WW2 films but it was very good and entertaining. I went in with low expectation knowing that I've seen a billion WW2 movies already and I know this movie isn't going to change that but I did enjoyed the action in this even though the special effects look like freaking Star Wars.
Fury - 5/10 It had some decent action scenes but the whole movie just felt soulless. The characters were not likable at all until the last third of the movie.
Fury 7/10 - About what you would expect Gone Girl - 9/10 really liked it, acting was good, and I really could not anticipate what was going to happen next.
Automata - 2/10 Holy crap. Well, if you ever wanted to see Antonio Banderas playing the 'Bruce Willis Role' in one of the very few of those roles which Bruce Willis actually turned DOWN.. then this is your movie. Oh, and if you ever wanted to see what Melanie Griffith's third-world plastic-surgeons have been up to, this is your movie. Utterly pointless movie. The entire message of this movie could have been better told as about a ten minute short film. Seriously. Don't even waste your time, just watch 'Her' again, if you really want to see yet another movie about how the inevitable r/evolution of Artificial Intelligence makes us measly humans looks pathetic and weak. Terrible, terrible movie.
not quite sure if you disliked this movie horrible bosses 2 8.5/10 really funny better than the first grand budapest hotel 7/10 not his best work but entertaining none the less
