I would start Anderson over Asik if I were the Pellies. Having Asik come off the bench for Davis would better better spacing wise.

We learned in Houston that if you put Asik on the bench for a better player, he'll stay there for months, even when you want him to play.

It's a good to great draft. Moving the pick even a couple spots higher helps.

Pick is a lottery pick at least, I don't remember how much it's protected.

I bet the Pelicans were thinking that Asik would make them a playoff team. So, all is good. Asik didn't want to play for the Rockets. Now the Rockets are looking to get a pick in the 10 - 13 range.

Thanks brehs. I wonder why they protected the 20-30... so random.

I don't think a barely-missed-the-playoffs team has ever gotten a top 3 pick before, so we're pretty much guaranteed the pick :)

Orlando in '93 did, they were 41-41. Higher odds back then, though.

It is obvuos now that they won't make playoffs and probably we get their pick. But they can just tank remainder of the season and get better % to get top3 pick. And this could end up us getting better pick, like 7-9

Is new draft lottery system accepted, or it will be old one this year?

they have a lot of injury prone players. evans, gordon, and AD can all miss more time.

they will be under .500 at seasons end. that might put them closer to denver and sacto. maybe the pistons, nets, heat catch up to them as well.

my guess is somewhere in the 9-13 range.

Best news I've heard all day. Side note, Jennifer Hale is also starting to look good.

OUTSIDE VOICE : That's great. I want that pick to be valuable to the Rockets, but not if it means injury to a great player - even an opposing one.

INSIDE VOICE : Crap. He's breathing.

Yeah. As much as I want the Pels to crash and burn this year, I also want AD to become a megastar multi-MVP.

AD might honestly be the MVP of the season right now going by individual contribution, but the voters would never give it to somebody whose team isn't in the playoffs. I feel bad that he's stuck on such a crap team, I'd love to see what he could do with a decent supporting cast.
