#1 Clint Capela had 25 pts, 17 rbds and 4 bks in only 26 min. for the Vipers. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SK68d7vgm2U http://dleague.nba.com/games/20150118/RNORGV/ Final score 160-153… this league is a joke and Rocket's and Clint agent are stupid. Let him play with the Rockets or send him back in Europe.
Both times they have brought him up he has looked miserable even in garbage time. We literally looked to get him the ball on like 10 possessions in a row and he couldn't get a bucket. He single handedly almost gave up a 25ish point lead to the grizzlies. He has clearly progressed and is better than the d-league scrubs but i wouldn't say he can put up those numbers or anything close to them in the NBA yet.
I am not trying to **** on Capela but I don't see the point of bringing him up right now. Clearly he is progressing and we don't have an immediate need for him right now. Let him develop even more.
I see the Vipers as the day care from the Pokemon games and we'll come back later and get Capela when he's a higher level lol
Can't say I follow any D League games but is there any reason why no one plays defence? Do players just try to pad their stats so they get a call up?
While I agree that he is not ready, that Memphis game was stupid. If we let him play we should not feed him the ball and let him try to score. If he plays he should play the garbage man function. Not the go to scorer. It is like playing Canaan and want him to be a rim protector. But like I said He is not ready to be a contributor. I just watched the video. two thing: Capela ond of those players with NBA experience.... Well technically yes, but I would not say that. Who is that giant of a man with the oppossition number 44?
I'm not so sure that he didn't want to make an other year in Europe. Many agent of the player very often are looking their short term interest and not player interest. Capela is completely wasting is time in D-League.
They were building the league to be the 3rd or 4rth best league in the world. It isn't really working out
Rockets actually wanted him to stay in Europe, he was originally supposed to be a Euro stash and save the Rox money while they chased Melo/Bosh and retained Parsons. However the Melo/Bosh dream flopped and suddenly Capela made a fuss about not wanting to go back to Europe (I guess NBA lottery money is higher than what Europe gave? Or maybe the facilities in general are better in the NBA whatever) so the Rox had no choice but to stick him in DLeague. There's a large gap between the NBA and the D League, DLeague MVPs end up as solid bench roleplayers. With that said, it's unreal that he's beasting so much at only 20 years old, if he posted these numbers in college he would be a top pick, and the thing is DLeague is actually a higher level than college! IMHO he's also an untouchable, he and DMO will form the NBA's best front court 3 years from now.

Playing in the Dleague is better than being the 4rth scrub in an NBA, for one thing it can destroy his confidence when he starts making mistakes and gets abused by superstars (see Darko). Right now at least the Vipers can him their no 1 option and have him go against lower level guys as preparation for the big league. Capela is only 20 years old and has like 100% dependency on his athleticism, what you need to do now is have him lift weights, fill out his body and work on the fundamentals. The Dleague allows him the chance to work on the stuff he's working on, whereas in the NBA he will be limited to watching the action on the bench. Of course having him stay in Europe was the best option but if the Rox kept him assigning him to the Dleague for 1 year is the next best thing to do. Maybe later you can call him up in the playoffs and have him soak up the atmosphere.
It's not about development. It's about getting your rookie scale contract out of the way. If DMo came over right away instead of spending a year on Prokom, he'd be a free agent this year and would likely get a big contract. Essentially, the Rockets got to develop him for a year on someone else's payroll. Was that extra year of development worth it to DMo? Maybe.
