Again, 6 pass attempts. QBs do that on one drive. Ok, he looked "terrible"...if he played at the level he had been playing all year (2:1 TD/INT, 8 ypa, 95 rating), we would have most definitely been in a very good position to win the game. It's hard to see the truth for some of you that peg Fitz as a bottom 3-5 NFL QB, when he's CLEARLY outplayed at least 10-12 NFL QBs this season. He's not nearly as bad as some of you like to make him out to be.
Fitzpatrick is one of the worst NFL starters. He got benched for the unknown for that very reason. Sure you can cherry pick his stats & what not, but that's a testament to BOB more than anything. Fitzpatrick is a capable back up.. He has no place starting games, especially for a team that has playoff aspirations.

everyone root hard for a browns and chiefs win next week. then if we win, we're in as the 6th seed wildcard w/ a potential matchup vs indy/cincy/pittsburgh
Kubiak is a real man. I'm not sure there's a coach who is more happy when his former players succeed.
Cherry pick his stats? Those stats are for the entire season. Before he got benched, our offensive line was absolutely horrid and BOB was doing a terrible job playcalling. Things have turned around since then and the OLine is actually doing a very good job, while BOB has improved tremendously. If Fitz left a lot to be desired, it was because of those issues...he did decent given the hand he was dealt. And this season, Fitz has played better than many capable starting NFL QBs (Cutler, Stafford, Newton, Kaep, Dalton, etc...). It must be hard to admit that your assessment was way off.
huh? fitzpatrick was benched in the middle of the season for a guy who has never thrown an NFL pass. what does that tell you? i can go on about the specifics of the OL issues, namely Fitzpatrick never going to the hot route. but, clearly you are a fan... and i respect that. so go on thinking Fitzpatrick is better than any NFL starter outside of geno smith. i'll let BOB's actions do my talking.

Agreed. Hoyer also played them well the first matchup of the season only to be beat by a late field goal. He should have extra motivation to play hard (hopefully Manziel is out) since he's essentially playing for a starting job next year. Chiefs are at home vs a Chargers team decimated with injuries, most significantly to Rivers. Tough to win at Arrowhead and they're also counting on some losses from teams to get in, so I can see them still playing hard. Crazier things have happened this season though. If we get in, I can see Watt being the MVP and DPOY. Maybe a Co-MVP w/ A-Rod to satisfy all parties.
Ever since the Cleveland game, the OLine has played a lot better, no? After Fitz was reinserted into the lineup, we didnt have the same issues we dealt with during the first half of the season. And BOB has clearly improved his play calling. The team needed a spark, that's why Fitz was benched. However, that move wasnt necessarily the right move, given that Mallett had the worst game of the year for the Texans during the Cincy game. That game was most definitely winnable and things could very well be different right now if Fitz was never benched. That cant be denied. Fitz brought a winning record to the table...you can spin it however you want, but his numbers were good and the Texans had more wins than losses. QBs that Fitz outplayed this season: Cutler Kaep Newton Dalton Stafford Hoyer/Manziel Foles/Sanchez Bortles Smith/Vick Carr McCown/Glennon Stanton/Lindley Orton/Manuel Bridgewater Davis How many of these can you say had better seasons than Fitz? Im not a Fitz fan at all, but Im also not going to make comments that have no merit...Ive never heard of a QB that played in 13 games (large sample size) and netted a 95 rating, 8 ypa, and 2:1 TD/INT ratio...but was deemed as someone that is a "back up" QB and not worthy of starting. Some of you either dont have a realistic idea of "average" quarterbacking...or just need to watch more football. In any case, dispute the list from above...I listed 15 NFL teams that I feel had worse QB play than the Texans did with Fitz. At best, you might be able to dispute 1 or 2 of them.
1) Fitzpatrick was benched because he's not good enough. BOB rolled the dice on a guy who never threw an NFL pass rather than continue with Fitzpatrick. If you can't read the tea leaves... I don't know what to tell you. 2) Mallett played the Cinci game with a torn pec. You probably haven't had a pec or shoulder injury, but I'll tell you from experience it's quite amazing he played through it.I don't know what would have happened if Fitzpatrick played in the game. His track record against teams with winning records (1-4) say he would not have made a difference. 3) Once again, you are cherry picking stats. Put almost all of those players on the Texans, under BOB, and they would be in fine form. As I said, Fitzpatrick has benefited greatly from playing under BOB, but that does not change who he is. In essence, BOB put lipstick on a pig with Fitzpatrick. We should be excited about this because what if BOB gets his hands on a QB with real talents? That's why I want RG3. I think BOB can fix him.
Do you know what "cherry picking" stats means? It's not called cherry picking stats when Im using the ENTIRE season as my source.
You can't expect everyone to look at actual numbers when they are making their minds up about how someone plays, they are going to do it based on reputation and team accomplishment.
It's all relative. There's good reason why Fitzpatrick is 5-1 against bottom barrel teams (Tenn x 2, Jax, Oak, NYG, Wash), and then 1-4 against teams with winning records (Indy, Buff, Philly, Pitt, Dallas). It's cute that you keep side stepping the fact that BOB benched Fitzpatrick in spite of his sparkling statistics. BOB put lipstick on a pig, no other way to put it. TBH, I don't even know what you're arguing. What do you think the odds are that Fitzpatrick has a starting job next year outside of being promoted due to injury? Chew on that, little fella.
Stafford, and Orton for sure. I could argue Sanchez and Newton for different reasons. Vick needed more time and receivers.
Even the coach said Fitz wasn't benched because of his performance. Mallet was the coach's guy from the time he got here. O'Brien needed to see what he had in him, it was just a matter of time. You can't keep using that against him.
