I moved away from Houston in the 90s, seeing some of the scenes made me so nostalgic. Houston is a great town!
felt obligated to see it seeing I was born and raised in this great city def worth a watch i thought it was alright, but hope it wins some major awards come feb. put this city back on the map Spoiler the astros scene was brilliant. i was in the 9th grade at the time. miss that team
Good choice. Remember tho that The Social Network swept all the critic awards and lost out to The Kings Speech. There a plenty of King Speech's this year. Mediocre British Drama's aimed at the over 50 crowd.
Movie was awesome mainly due to the concept. One of the best I've ever seen. I enjoyed the soundtrack as well.
Pretty great movie. My only real complaint is that the boy himself wasn't all that interesting. His parents were, and the stuff going on around him was. But the actual boy... meh. Seemed too passive. But maybe that's what was intended -- allowing the widest possible viewership to read themselves into a relatively weak main character, rather than hurt viewer identification by making him too distinct. The "everyboy."
Just watched it till the end, knowing it was gonna cause me sleep troubles. Linklater seriously deserves an Oscar to crown his way of film-making. That is all.
Bump.. Finally saw this on Saturday and liked it so much that I watched it again on Sunday. Not a tear-jerker per se, but parts of it did hit close to home for me, since my parents divorced when I was young and I was raised (in Houston) by a single mother, picked up by my dad every other weekend, and later had a step-dad added to the mix. He wasn't a raging alcoholic, though. 10/10 for me. I loved it for the same reason some people hated it (no actual plot, etc.) It was basically a day in the life....over the span of 12 years.
Other than growing up in Houston, I didn't relate to a lot of what the characters were going through. Nonetheless I loved the movie.
Just watched this the other day. It was arguably the most boring movie I have ever seen. No plot. Just horrible. So damn boring.
Yeah, it seems like this movie is more polarizing than expected. One question, do you like any other Richard Linklater movie?
Whenever people say the movie has no plot, they clearly don't get the point of the movie to begin with.
explain? Have not seen it, heard it was boring with no plot and the only redeeming qualities were it took 12 years to make (like I am supposed to care) and it featured houston.
