We've been over this, it's not just an "eye test", his numbers are down too. Anyway, roll with whatever narrative you like.
Yes we've been through other factors pulling down his numbers Stop assuming your narrative is correct.
BOB tried to get Fitz to blow out his knee today up by 21 and leave in is just dumb. Owner needs to have a talk with BOB when we are up by 17 or more late in the 3rd or down by 3+ touchdowns bring in your 2nd or 3rd string qb. You do not want to injure your starting qb becuase you think his is the best qb ever make the coach looks like a ass clown
Since when did NFL teams pull their starting QB out in the third quarter because they had a 3 possession lead? I'm not the biggest fan of O'B (yet), but this is a bizarre criticism. Perhaps my sarcasm detector is broke.
This game illustrates, once again, how Fitz is holding back Andre. This game is another classic game of where Fitz throws it behind Andre, or too low so that he can't make a play. It's not Andre; people have been saying for years that he is one of, if not the top, route runner in the league. It as suddently disappeared? No. In addition, it is another game that proves that BoB will not take a shot downfield with AJ until it is absolutely necessary, even though AJ has shown great success with it. It has been frustrating watching Andre not get used in the playcalling, until the Texans are desperate in the 4th quarter. Suddenly, the offense "clicks". Fitz is not throwing the ball behind, or low, anymore and allowing AJ to make the play. It is ridiculous to see a talent like him not be utilized more in this offense, and have passes thrown in his direction so that he can make a play. If you listen to what the announcers are saying, and if you are watching closely, the deep safety is still shading to Johnson. On some of the coverage, you can still see the corners respecting Johnson's deep-ball ability. I tend to lean towards what the defensive coordinators believe when creating a game plan against the Texans. He never heavily relied on his great speed; he didn't need to, and Kubiak never really sent him long anyways very often, for some reason. If you look back on '08 and '09, his strength was his size and route-running. His cutting skills are exceptional. Shaub's lack of arm strength on the deep ball was well criticized; however, I think people should start realizing that he did deliver passes that allowed Andre to make a play in the short, mid-level, and jump balls, and he recognized how often AJ finds a seam in the coverage. These are skills that allow a receiver to be elite beyond the prime years, unlike Randy Moss and others. Even pancakes, of all people, said when outsiders question if Andre should be in the hall of fame, he would just "show them a list of all the Texans' quarterbacks". Fitz is another classic name on that list. Also, realize that the passing offense gets very few yards. Sites like PFF, which have been mentioned before, who do analyze every play, illustrate that it is not AJ falling off. His catch %, yards per route run, and others are showing a typical day in the office for AJ. It is the lack of productivity of the offense, play calling, and quarterback.
I am saying you give or 2nd string qb a few drives if the other team comes backs you go with your starting qb the rest of the game. Today Titans had nothing should have given Mallest 3 or 4 drives
That makes no sense whatsoever. Why would you even take a chance on a backup QB for 3 or 4 drives, i.e. possessions, when you are clinging on to a 3 possession lead. Quick 3 and outs, and worse, turnover(s), can turn a game around in a hurry. Just, no.
This bring in the backups at QB argument is complete nonsense. This is is NFL not ncaa. It is just not done the vast majority of times. Plus, do people have such short term memory loss that they forget the 24 point swing last week?
not only that he kept calling for the 3rd string qb thats not even suited up to get some reps in todays game..
True. Don't bring in the backups intil maybe victory formation or up 21 with 2 minutes left but After last week . . . just one minute Rocket River
I believe the Patriots have brought in Jimmy G a few times already during blowouts rather winning or losing. But O'Brien may have wanted to make sure they secure the victory and or get Fitzpatrick the work because he needs it.
If David Carr didn't hold back AJ then no QB can. It's pretty clear that AJ is not getting open like he used to. Whenever Fitz throws to AJ his defender has him covered so tight they can consistently make plays on the ball. How is it that Hopkins can play well with Fitz, but AJ can't? AJ is 33 so he's getting to that age where WR's start to slip.
Probably because Nuk still sees a lot of one on one coverage because AJ still draws double teams. But AJ is older so of course he's probably not what he once was... Are you guys watching these games on all 22 to judge AJ's route running...? Because if Fitzpatrick is throwing the ball late it will look like AJ isn't getting separation. You can also see if the defense is cheating over towards AJ.
He did. Compare the stats. Literally the season after Carr left, AJ started to kill it. Is there a huge difference between 33 and 32? For a WR that has been very successful utilizing athleticism as a luxury? Why, again, is Andre dominating in the 4th when the Texans are desperate? It's not like he is getting shut out when Fitz actually gives him passes, and passes where he can make a play. I tend to lean that a very below average QB should be at blame when he cannot read coverages or throw to him in order to utilize his talent of dominating QB's. Seriously, why did the Texans not abuse the match up of Brice McCain vs Andre against the Colts until the 4th? That is play calling.
Fitz straight up through a couple bad passes when Andre was open. Andre was open in the endzone and Fitz didn't lead him enough resulting in the defender swatting it away All those intermediate routes Schaub threw to Andre. What happened to those?
