this violates the geneva convention? =) by the title,i thought an army of thousands had parachuted in. canucks!!!
It's very hard to figure out what's going on. I have two friends working in Ottawa and I'll share whatever I hear from them. Such an odd time we're living in.
Apparently the security at Parliament in Canada is far far less than at the US Capital or the UK Parliament and that anyone could walk into it without be challenged. Given Canada's history there probably hasn't been much need for higher security but after this that will probably change.
What a mad world we live in. I hope whoever is responsible that may have gotten away, if anyone did, is punished.
That's what I was thinking. From the way it was being reported, the shooter(s) started out at the war memorial where they shot a soldier to death and then they walked five minutes over to the Parliament building across the street...as if they had all the time in the world to just shoot up whatever within the vicinity. I guess they have to now look at their security measures because they seemed to be lacking there. There did seem to be a lot of cops in the Parliament building (as we see in the video) but, apparently, that didn't stop them from getting in and popping off a large number of rounds. But, it's still confusing as to what actually happened, how many gunmen are involved, etc. . It seems like it could be just one guy doing all of it. I'm also guessing Parliament wasn't in session at the time but not sure.
the muslim radical killing a canadian soldier a few days ago was a seperate incident. the media should show greater responsibility than jumping the gun and making baseless speculation.
