Horrible day to be a Texans fan. Terrible lose to a mediocre at best team. How many more games are we going to spot these teams 21 or better points. This is worse than last season
When you have a mediocre team with a mediocre quarterback (at best) and possibly a mediocre head coach (but he is a rookie)... There will be days like this. Good thing is we do face a lot of mediocre teams this year so hopefully they will win more games.
#Houston  http://espn.go.com/blog/houston-texans/post/_/id/8161/how-rare-are-those-24-point-quarters After the Texans' 30-23 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers, a common postgame question centered around the ridiculousness of what happened to conclude the first half. Have you ever been part of something like that? Most said no, or that they couldn't remember. It's worth pointing out, though, the Texans also gave up 24 points in a quarter last week to Indianapolis (just not as quickly). Here's a fact: What the Texans have experienced in the past two weeks is something that hasn't even happened in the lifetimes of most of their players. The last time it happened, Bill O'Brien was in high school. For a team to give up 24 points in a quarter is unusual. For a team to do it in consecutive weeks is, well... According to Elias Sports Bureau, prior to the Texans this season, the last team to allow 24 points in a quarter in consecutive games was the Packers in 1986. They did it in losses to the Vikings (42-7) and Bengals (34-28) in Weeks 4 and 5 of the season. Since the Texans' inception in 2002, there hasn't been a single team to allow 24-point quarters in more than two games in an entire season. It happened in different ways each time. The Colts' scoring explosion, driven by Andrew Luck and receiver TY Hilton, was aided by an onside kick after their first quick touchdown. That move totally caught the Texans off guard and helped the Colts go up 24-0 in the first quarter before the Texans answered. Of course, last night's second-quarter catastrophe started with the defense allowing a few big plays, and got worse when offensive turnovers gave the Steelers the ball inside Houston's 10 twice. The results both times, though, were too much for the Texans to overcome. And if the Texans aren't careful, they would find themselves on the wrong side of history if it happened again.
It time....... to lost the rest of the games.... No Texans not bad enough to get the #1 pick, that belongs to the Jags or Raiders. But can they? They can somehow lost 2 to the Jags like last year. There is a chance but Raiders are terrible and Texans beat them so they have edge. And you are probably saying WTF, Texans should lose.... Why not? They stink and they don't have a QB. Why not suck for the next wonder QB. Oh wait, with Rick, they will not pick one up because it is not best player available. Yes, this is becoming a said season very quickly and Bob the owner needs to smell the roses and fire that GM of his. Terrible draft and can't get good players. Watt not withstanding.
I haven't given up on O'Brien, but I've given up on the season. We need an entire new back end of the defense, new inside linebackers, and thats not to mention quarterback and offensive line...
And we knew about all that last year, some of them for a few years, and we haven't really done much about it. Maybe we can draft some more players who won't play in the next draft.
O'Brien has certainly made a number of blunders, some of which I think may be attributed to a college frame of mind. Even when they work out, he's making decisions that would work for Penn State, but not for the Texans. As for the season, why give up? We have 4 against Titans/Jags, 1 against Colts (2 game lead), and that #6 playoff seed is also up for grabs. I think if the Texans can have a short memory, they have the talent to go on a nice little playoff push. Clowney coming back will certainly help, as well more burn for Cushing. Offensively, Hopkins, AJ, and Foster just need to secure the ball - their TOs have been more deadly to us than anything Fitzy has done/not done in last 2 weeks.
Cut Joseph, retain Kareem. Sign a FA corner. Bouye, Morris will be the third and fourth corners. Hal will improve. Draft a safety or look via free agency. Draft a ILB. Bring in a more solid slot receiver. Cut the center. Start X and move someone over to center (as someone suggested here). Draft a QB in the first. Hundley if he's there.
It's truly a marvel that Rick Smith still has a job after all these years, yet still so many holes on the roster.
Was speaking from a franchise-totality perspective. This ishh is a curse and not just the Texans... it's city-wide.
