Love Bev but he simply isn't in Rubio's class.

Everybody agrees that Rubio is an elite ball handler. The problem is when he plays our players have now a 4 on 5 as defenders can now ignore Rubio's offense.

That's not the point. No many argue that Rubio is a better overall player than Bev.

However, the upgrade from Bev to Rubio is very marginal and not worthy of all the assets being rumored that we have to give up when there is a more pressing need at the 4 spot.

btw he also had 6 TOs in that game if you wanna just base it on that.

what class would that be? definitely not upper tier cause rubio isn't even there so beverley isn't too far off.

Patrick Beverley clearly outplayed Rubio in every matchup last year vs. the Wolves. Does this mean nothing to anyone or am I taking crazy pills again? The is a Rockets fan-site right? People here did watch the Rockets play the Wolves before right? Am I just losing it, or is it something else?

You're assuming an unfavorable deal. What if the deal were Bev, Canan, Capela, and our 2017 first rounder unprotected?

You're also assuming a significant upgrade at the 4 is available. It isn't. If it were it would already be done. I agree we need a 4 upgrade more than a 1 upgrade. But where's it at? Guys like Bosh are gone. Only chance for LaMarcus or Marc Gasol is in free agency this summer. Durant is this year and next year away from being on the market.

Know who's available? Guys like Ilyasova and Bass and possibly Dorrell Arthur. In other words guys we can get for a little bit of nothing. But Love, LaMarcus, Blake...they're simply not available.

If we can trade for Rubio or Rondo while still preserving the NOP pick.....then we still have ammo to make a run for a major PF trade. But if not, we might as well trade for a guy like Rubio and then pursue a PF in free agency or trade for a guy like Ilyasova to play the stretch 4 alongside Dwight for at least this season and next until we can go after Durant in 2016.

Love isn't coming here. If we can trade for Rubio and still keep the NOP pick then we can also pick up a guy like Ilyasova to tide us over. If LaMarcus wants to come here in the off season we can use the NOP pick to clear out Ilyasova if necessary and sign LaMarcus.

There is no significant upgrade at the 4 beyond guys like Ilyasova or Bass at this time that would be worth giving up the NOP pick for. I think our best bet at the 4 spot is to see if we can work a trade for somebody like Ilyasova or possibly a trade for a young big like Kanter or Zeller or Vucevic if they don't ink extensions or their teams decide to move them for a pick or whatever.

    LOL

Defenses can't ignore Rubio. If they do, he'll walk all over them. Just hand him the basketball.

Sure do that since now 5 defenders are now guarding 4 players and clogging the lanes.

    a) Your posts are generally ****.

    b) I was pointing out the fact that he has changed his shooting form. 20 seconds out of a 5 minute video showed that his shooting mechanics changed. That is enough for me to believe in time he can become a descent shooter. That was my main knock on him.

sounds like Morey wants a pass first PG. Someone to create for others, plus with Howard and Harden on the floor, not many shots to go around.

If there is nobody defending Rubio he walks it to the rim. It's very simple. He has to be defended because he is constantly on the dribble probing the paint. No further responses from me on this one. You are being way to simplistic and unreasonable here.

My main knock on Rubio is that he's pretty much the worst at his position in terms of finishing at the rim.

    Here's a fun exercise:

    1) Try to think of a PG who is bad at finishing, or just not good in general.
    2) Compare their % at the rim to Rubio's (49.1% in 2014, 47.7% for his career).
    3) Shake your head at how horrible Rubio is by comparison.

And this is magnified by the fact that 40% of Rubio's shots are at the rim. Yikes.

If he was a decent finisher, I'd be all about acquiring him.

Yes can walk it right to the rim where he shoots like 46%.

Unfortunately most teams have one rim protector that will salivate at Rubio bring it in.
