I imagine the name will be thrown out there, but unreal returns will be expected. In terms of Rocket's assets, what do you expect them to demand for West?
Right at the end of the trade deadline. Houston and Atlanta Jones, 1st Rd Pick, 2 - 2nd Rd picks Horford PG - Beverley SG - Harden SF - Ariza PF - Horford C - Howard Finals here we come.
Trade 1: Jones/Capela/Phlly #2 to Washington Covington and 2nd rounder from HOU along with 2nd from Washington to Philly. Bogans, Washington's 2015 first rounder to HOU Trade 2: Bev/Canaan/Powell/Pels Pick/2nd rounder to Minny for Rubio to Houston. Trade 3: On Dec. 15th - Ariza, Terry, Bogans to NY(or elsewhere) Amare to Houston Trade 4: On Dec. 16th or later - Amare, Washington first rounder (from earlier trade) and second rounder to Philly for a $23 million TPE. Trade 5: After we flip Amare, Ilyavosa traded into the Jeremy Lin TPE.
Two simultaneous trades: Gibson for TPE T Jones / NOP pick / One more player for Snell and Aaron Brooks
Unreal returns will be asked for. And maybe some other team will give an unrealistic return. But not Morey. I have no idea what Morey would give for West
What would it take to pry Amir Johnson from Toronto? Future first and Jones? Pros Fits inside Lin TE Plays very good defense at PF Expiring contract efficient player offensively okay rebounder Can be backup center Might still have assets after trading for him to go after someone like Dragic. Cons Toronto is saavy enough to know he is a valuable role player okay rebounder 3 point shot is fringy
In December we'll make a push for David West. I was beginning to like the idea of having Terry as a veteran presence, but any trade we pull off is going to include him.
Hou: Canaan, Denver 2nd round pick Cha: Brian Roberts Pros for Roberts: Capable scorer Doesn't turn the ball over Has excellent mid-range game Possibly a good 3pt shot (39% on 2 att/game in 12-13, 36% on 2.5 att/game in 13-14) Good AST% (28.2 in 12-13, 22.2 in 13-14) Has had 2 seasons of experience as first or second man off the bench, which is what we would expect of him Amazing FT shooter (91% 12-13, 94% 13-14) Cons: Awful finisher Not a good defender, but isn't bad enough to be a real detriment to the team
Hou: Dmo, Terry, New York 2nd round pick Bos: Bass Pros for Bass: Veteran experience Great mid range jumper Good team defender Good FT shooter Knows his role Adequate rebounder Consistency Cons: Lose Dmos potential Can't play Center Lose Terry's contract for possible blockbuster trade
Hou: Capella, Sacramento 2nd round pick Utah: Rudy Gobert Pros for Gobert: Great size and wingspan (7' 1", 7' 8.5" respectively) Excellent hands Had great defensive rebounding %, but in limited minutes. Good rebounding potential Great rim protector, almost a full block/game in under 10 min/game (3.7 blocks/36 min) Mobile on both sides of the ball, great roll man potential, has tools to be a good pick n roll defender Has a full season's experience manning the backup Center role Cons: Less potential than Capella Not great sample size Probably should put on some weight (220 lbs) Foul prone (4.7 PFs/36 min)
Ultimately Atlanta will need to rebuild and look down the road. Counting on Horford as a primary building block being a good idea... Capela+Jones+Motiejunas+NOP Pick+Canaan+Johnson+2 second rounders for Jeff Teague and Pero Antic and then Atlanta trades Milsap into the TPE
How could we get David West and would it take to much? He would help this team a whole lot especially in the tough Western Conference.
Acquiring David West would require: 1) pacers sucking out of the gate 2) Morey not being able to get a "third star" soon and doesn't want to wait for offseason 3) being able to upgrade the guard position without giving up much assets
We should just dump Asik & Lin so we can sign our third star, say Bosh or Melo...then resign Parsons.
