So JJ is a once-in-a-generation talent surrounded by mediocrity? That's all the Houston Sports Pantheon requires for acceptance! Welcome to the club, Mr. Watt!
I used to roll my eyes at JJ Watt's 'persona' - the hard working, All-American act just kind of seemed bland and ungenuine to me. But damn, has he made me love him on the football field. The guy is simply amazing. A defensive end can almost single-handedly keep us in a game. Not only doing his job, but going WAY above and beyond. Absolute monster, hopefully he stays with the Texans for a long, long time.
Just wondering what Watt's official nickname is? While watching him play tonight, I came to the realization that I feel we (fans) don't even deserve to call him by his given name. Shouldn't we just say "the beast" or "the cyborg" or something that accurately describes how special that mfer is? Every week he makes one proud to be a Texans fan.
How is it possible that a 3-4 DE is CARRYING the entire team? Has that ever happened before in NFL history? We would literally be 1-5 without him.
First player since Billy Stacy (who?) in 1961 to have a Reception TD, Interception returned for a TD and a Fumble recovery returned for a TD in the same year. It took Stacy the last game of the year to get the Fumble TD. Watt has done all of that in 6 games lol.
J.J. has been a one man wrecking crew _ BUT, give Foster a little credit as well.... He's been carrying more than his own weight on offense.
The single-season record for defensive touchdowns in a season (Watt has two so far, remember we're talking about just on D) is 5, set by Ken Houston of...Houston in 1971. More recently Derrick Brooks had 4 in 2002, all in the first seven weeks of the season. (Plus one in the Super Bowl.) As far as career leaders, Rod Woodson had thirteen and Ronde Barber ended up with twelve.

Thanks to both of you for that info. Looks like all JJ needs now is a special teams TD (ie return a blocked punt or blocked kick for a TD). Or as I mentioned in the game thread, let him return punts and kickoffs too
