The first couple games will be a good indicator. Parsons had some good minutes the first time we saw him.
What do you mean particularly well ? He was a very good defender and streaky shooter in Europe. He is a slasher when he finds the opportunity to penetrate. He has high basketball IQ, he will pass quickly if there is an open man. We don't know if his skills will be translated in this level. Preseason will tell us some things about him. Also, No one wanted to come play for Rockets(for MLE). Who were the players that were willing to play here for MLE ?
On his fan club's facebook page, I said we were calling him Papa or Paps and asked what his nickname was. They answered "Pap".
Cyrillic alphabet? Pap is Greek. The Greek alphabet is ...Greek. Also that "ypstirizete" thing is a typo in the Greek word, it means "support".
My opinion is based on limited youtube videos but I feel that TJ is miles ahead of him and his handles are comparable to DMo.
From FIBA it was obvious that he is a SF. He won't break you off the dribble, but he can handle the rock as well as chandler or ariza. His specialty, though, is off-ball movement. Lots of cuts and pop outs. Perfect role player
Also he is surprisingly athletic. One of his chase-down blocks on the fastbreak will bring down clutchfans
I feel a better comparison is Ariza or Parsons in regards to handles..he can put the ball on the floor but don't expect him to ISO defenders and dazzle...more or less what parsons did when harden gave him the pitch
I've watched him since 2009 and would say this is pretty accurate. He can handle the ball, but you wouldn't really want him to, pretty much like Parsons. He's much more willing than Parsons to mesh into an offense and execute his assignments though. Popping out, spotting up, baseline cuts, rolling into the paint, crashing the offensive boards, finishing lobs. That's his offense.
Sounds perfect in our offense. He will fit right in whether in the bench or starting units. He doesn't need to dominate the ball to be effective, as what asst coach Chris Finch has said.
