Back during my smoking days, it was literally just so I could get out of the office for 10 minutes every hour or so. I haven't smoked a cig since NYE 1999. I do miss the "smoke breaks" but not enough to start up again.
Nicotine is an anti-anxiety drug, and cigarettes are an easy way to self-dose. I quit a month ago when I got a nasty cold and use snus which a Danish ex introduced to me. I'm still coughing up crud, but since I can at least dose myself with nicotine and manage my addiction (and preserve my singing voice from being ruined), I'm not going back.
Haha, I only smoke the occasional hookah. So I'm not really a smoker. One of the reasons I stopped was the godawful smell that wouldn't come off your fingers and clothes.
QUESTION: Comparisons between the tobacco in cigarettes and weed are not apples or apples because the tobacco in cigarettes have so many additives THAT SAID do you think once WEED becomes legal that they will give it the same chemical treatment? Rocket River
Me too, but it's just not the same as going outside, getting some fresh air....and inhaling toxic chemicals into your lungs.
Don't know if anybody's ever told you this, but watching sports or Game of Thrones doesn't make you any smarter either.
haha, thats cute, you think that crap doesnt travel all around the region. If you dont want to breath all that crap, you might consider moving to say....Montana? Stopping smoking is the hardest thing anyone can ever do, and until you have tried to quit, then you have absolutely ZERO place to criticize because you just do not know how it really is. Nicotine is up there with heroin as the most addictive substance on the planet. and as a representative of the last generation to growup without all the anti smoking stuff, it was once considered a perfectly reasonable social activity. That said...any of you younger guys, do yourself a massive favor and find some other vice, because cigs are f**** nasty and addictive as all hell. You may think you can drop it just any old time, but it aint that easy.
Calm down breh. I wasn't criticizing nuttin'. Ain't none of my business what you jabroni's do nor do I really care. Your life, live it. BTW- I never smell those weird smells inside the loop. I do smell El Tiempo though with this north wind. Big fan.
Don't know if anybody's ever told you this, but there's a difference between a show with good writing, directing and acting and one without. There's also, for some people, a difference between something that showcases talents (sports) and something that showcases the most shallow and ignorant storylines imaginable. FTR - I haven't watched Game of Thrones. Not that I have anything for or against it, but I don't HBO.
Meh. Kate Moss doesn't belong on that list for any reason. All the others you listed most likely didn't fully grasp the severity of being addicted to cigarettes when they started. Still, I appreciate the fact that being a smoker doesn't make you dumb. But if you're my age or younger, and I see you smoking, I'm going into the conversation thinking that you're working with less than most....until you prove otherwise.
Some very intelligent people have vices far worse than cigarettes. A vice is a vice and everyone has one.
Alcohol is far worse in terms of cost to society. How many driving accidents have been due to smoking? Why do people still drink?
