Harden told them to switch. So what. So you are saying it was Parsons job to guard Lillard. He failed. It isn't Harden's fault Parsons failed. It's Parsons fault. Now you can go on defending the Dallas Maverick player, and saying it wasn't his fault. But I will go back and look at the picture of Lillard hitting the game winner over Parsons. That picture is worth a thousand of your words, sir. Good day.

I'm with you on this. I remember what it looked like when Chandler was healthy. He just isn't and probably won't ever be the defensive player he was his rookie year.

Look at how much air Chandler gets on that shot. He was beat so badly on a simple screen play. He lost some of his athleticism and he developed bad habits.

This was Parsons fault because he wasn't locked on his man. You'll see here in a second when you read down and watch the video.

If Parsons actually guards his man properly, we wouldn't be talking about what McHale 'should' have done.

I didn't see them switch assignments on the youtube replay, maybe that happens before my replay starts. But, what I did notice is that Chandler looks away from his man and that's when Lillard makes his break. He appears to be chatting with Bev instead of focusing on his job. Chandler is a split second behind because of that and we lose on a shot he should have blocked or at least altered the shot.

Don't watch the shot. That's not where Parsons' poor defensive habits showed. They show up the before the ball is even inbounded. Lillard plays dumb like he's not doing anything, Parsons is late, Rockets are out.

There is no doubt in my mind that Chandler is gone right now because of his defense. I think his defense was slowed by back problems, but more importantly, his bad habits were becoming commonplace. The proof is in the first round exit.

Like houactuar said, good riddance to both him and Jeremy. They played sloppy ball. It was fun to watch, but sloppy. This team and the front office doesn't care too much about 'fun'-ball. They make moves to win championships and Chandler doesn't play like a champion.

Listen to what the announcer says here:

    <iframe width="560" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/WOnnrICUa8Q" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

"reacts so quickly" ... that's what it's all about.

^^^ Don that Ariza play was from way back. The Ariza we are getting can't create much if at all for everybody else and rarely does put backs or drives for a dunk. We are getting a corner 3 man and defensive specialist not as good as prime Battier at this point. Are you happy that? I'm sure not.

Yeah, very happy. The offense should go through Dwight anyway, then Harden second, then to an open shot... which he hits remarkably well compared to other volume three point shooter in the league. I'm very happy to be getting this type of player that does this, on this stage:

    <iframe width="560" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/h46_ONty7H0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Champions are not comprised of offensive only effort guys that model in the offseason. Enjoy that contract Parsons!

(Ariza also averaged 8.9 rebounds per game this last season's playoffs and his team advanced(that's hustle!))

Which one? The 15 million dollar role player or the 8 million dollar one?

Great posts don. Parsons blew the last play of the last game. No doubt about it. He wasn't locked on his man when he should have been.

I understand there are cp25 only fans here, maybe mav fans here, certainly gator fans. No matter, overpaid role player is gone. Rockets will be better with ariza. What they need is defense and spot shooters. Not show boat glamor boys. Go rockets!!!

I approve of Ariza. He will be more than just our glue guy. His 3 point shooting is so streaky, I love it and hate it at the same time... if that's even possible! Haha.

I am not even close to being a fan of CP25, but he had a good fit on this team. Who is going to score? Not Bev, nor Ariza, not Jones. Howard is good for 17-20 points. Who do we have on the bench that can score? Who do we have that can handle the ball occassionally like CP? noone.

What does this mean? Another season of Harden averaging close to 40 minutes a game. Unless Morey wakes the eff up and shores up our bench, Harden might go over 40 mnutes a game.

50+ wins and another early exit from Harden being overworked/injured by April.

50+ wins, another championship for Harden and watching him dance with the trophy!!!

Stop being so negative. Believe in the beard. Fitzpatrick and Harden are going to bring H town two championships this year.

Due to defense, Rockets would be hard pressed winning anything big with Harden and Parsons logging big minutes. Defense is more consistent than offense regardless of the sport. Perhaps an improved ability to stop the opposition will lessen the need for Harden's offensive load. The additions of Ariza and Nick Johnson should help allow this.

Bottom line. Assuming health, if Dwight makes his free throws, we're in the Finals.

Run the offense through the 109 ORTG player rather than the 120 ORTG player? Okay.

Thank god Clutchfans doesn't coach this team.

Dwight has an offensive game that hasn't seen the light in a few years. The responsibility of increased offense is something he can handle. He can play with his back to the basket. Get him the ball in the post. Not deep enough? Repost. Force it to work. This is basketball. Always has been and always will. Feed the post and you can win championships in this NBA. And it's always been forced so don't say we shouldn't force anything.

When Dwight gets his low post game rolling like he's already done in this NBA, you won't question where offense is coming from. Offense will leach off the low post because that's what it has always done. It unlocks doors a lot of you have forgotten about because the NBA abandoned it for a short stint.

And ftwyes... this is about playoff style basketball. The type of ball where the whistles get put in pockets and players fight hard for position.

I bet you didn't look up ORtg during the playoffs before you typed that. Guess what, data supports me. It's 117 to 112 in favor of Dwight. So our measurement of who plays better than who in playoff basketball when they're on the same team: Dwight.

They're complimentary players, Dwight and James, but the offense should definitely go to the post. Big reason: the NBA doesn't have a player of his caliber playing that position. Exploit that fact. Feed the low post.
