In all seriousness, I don't understand the trade if he doesn't facilitate another trade. But then, I don't really see how this helps facilitate a trade. Does Phoenix or Boston need an expiring contract?
One question everyone needs to be asking......why now? Why annouce this trade now? Just like how the Asik trade was announced 2-3 weeks before it occurred, this could easily be spun into a 3 team deal. I wouldn't be surprised if we agreed with NOP on the Asik deal with the condition that it could be spun into a 3 team deal....I assume the same is true this time. Not saying that's what will happen, only that it has that flexibility.
Don't like the Jet, but at least he is not gonna drop 30 on us for whatever team he would have played for.
We increased our "leveragable" contract values by about $2 million, and got back 2 quality 2nd rounders. All it cost us was Les' money and the ability to aggregate Gee and another NG'eed contract between September 15th and November 15th. That's it.
Terry is washed up my friend. Dallas, Boston, Brooklyn, Sacremento & now to Houston with picks for guys the Kings plan on cutting. He could very well be done.
Great trade Terry plus more importantly 2 picks for a bunch of scrubs who were likely going to be cut. Morey comes out WINNING again!
My bet is he never wears a Rockets jersey. He'll be a part of a trade. Seriously I want 100% of 'Funk knee grampa' Terry's minutes Going to Nick Johnson.
Because said "veteran presence" is exactly what this bench needs, maybe? Are you under the impression the Rockets gave up anything of value? They gave up two or three non-guaranteed contracts (no one in plans at all, these guys were going to be cut in October) AND get draft picks along with Terry. And to help mentor a bench that's very young, you get a veteran with championship experience who can still shoot the 3. How does that not make sense?
Well, we basically have Harden/Howard and then a bunch of guys on rookie/minimum contracts. So Jet + Pap make any trade where we receive a moderate amount of salary (5-10m or so) easier to work as we won't have to send out like 5 players.
So Asik = Ariza + Terry + 1st rounder + 2nd Rounder +2nd Rounder ? Clutchfans are still b****ing Morey?
Everybody likes an expiring contract, non guaranteed's are better, but nobody wants to dedicate 3 or 4 roster spots for them. Terry only takes up one roster spot and gives you 6 mill exp as a trade filler. Can't believe the Kings packaged 2 seconds with him, great trade by Morey.
How in the world can anyone have trouble understanding how this trade makes sense? We traded somebody who wasn't even likely to make the team for two future draft picks and an expiring contract that may even be useful in a future trade. What is so difficult about that?
Beverley, Canaan, Smith Harden, Daniels, Terry, Johnson Ariza, Papanikolaou, Garcia Jones, Motiejunas, Adrian Howard, Capela, Dorsey 16 guaranteed contracts... somethings brewing.
