Fade Draft Spot: 1 Roster QB: J. Cutler RB: A. Peterson WR: B. Marshall TE: A. Gates FLEX: J. Nelson, R. White, R. Bush Depth: R. Griffin III, S. Ridley, M. Jones-Drew, L Blount, K Davis, T Williams, B LaFell, L. Green K: B. Walsh / M. Prater DE: C. Jones LB: L. Timmons, A. Hawk, B. Spikes DB: D. Hall Strengths: Flex Depth, WRs Weaknesses: QB, TE, LB Analysis: fade took Adrian Peterson with the first overall pick, ignoring the consensus 1-2 of Charles/McCoy. He was able to find good value later in the draft on Roddy White and stockpiled a glut of RBs of whom at least 2 should be useful throughout the season. The WR corps of Marshall/Nelson/White is pretty stout. Overall this team is well-rounded, but I'm wondering if the Peterson pick will end up being a misstep as McCoy and Charles seem more suited for this format as dual threats. Fade also chose to mostly ignore the higher-end LBs and instead settled for more consistent but lower ceiling LBs. His TE situation will likely be a headache all year with Green and Gates. However, his depth is more than capable of carrying him. Grade: B+ Rook Draft Spot: 2 Roster QB: C. Kaepernick RB: J. Charles WR: A. Jeffery TE: Z Ertz FLEX: CJ Spiler, Z. Stacy, C. Johnson, Depth: C.Palmer, J. Manziel, L. Miller, D. Hopkins, T. Smith, B. Cooks, M Floyd, T. Mason, S. Greene K: S. Hauschka DE: G. Hardy LB: L. David, J. Laurinaitis, C. Wake DB: TJ Ward Strengths: RB, LB, Flex Depth Weaknesses: QB, TE Analysis: Rook cashed in with the #2 pick and grabbed Jamaal Charles, and from there seemingly went RB as much as he could. Rook hoarded RBs early and late, finishing with a haul of Charles, Stacy, Chris Johnson, CJ Spiller, Lamar Miller, Shonne Green, and Tre Mason. Rook will look to his RB depth to provide him with solid flex options all year. His WR corps looks a bit thin on paper, but I believe with his RB depth, it won't be a big issue and he should have no trouble finding at least 1 flex WR option to go with Alshon Jeffery if needed. As far as QB options, he has a three headed trio of Kaepernick, Carson Palmer, and Johnny Football to choose from which should suffice all season. Zach Ertz has Top 10 potential, but may not be consistent enough to provide steady points from the TE slot. Grade: B- HoustonTexans4Life Draft Spot: 3 Roster QB: T. Romo RB: L. McCoy WR: A. Brown TE: K. Rudolph FLEX: D. Martin, W. Welker, S. Watkins Depth: P Rivers, R. Rice, J. Jones, M. Austin, S. Smith, H. Miller K: M. Bryant / A. Henery DE: R. Ninkovich / C. Campbell LB: V. Miller, CJ Mosely, J. Clowney DB: E. Thomas / B. Pollard Strengths: IDP Depth, QB depth, Starters Weaknesses: RB Depth, WR Depth, Flex Depth Analysis: Picking from the 3 spot seemed to throw HT4L for a bit of a loop. After having LeSean McCoy gifted to him 3rd overall, Antonio Brown, Doug Martin, and Wes Welker round out a nice looking starting lineup. However, the flex depth here is a big concern. This team is going to have trouble finding a 3rd flex option that is consistent enough to play. Picks like Miles Austin are not going to help. Going with IDP depth is a bit of a strange strategy that I feel represents no real immediate dividens as most teams choose to cut fringe depth players when their main IDPs are on Bye. Overall a great start, but a real poor finish. I did like the selections of Romo and Rivers at QB which should provide a good chance to stream QBs based on matchups all season. Grade: C- PSJ Draft Spot: 4 Roster QB: M. Stafford RB: M. Forte WR: C. Patterson TE: D. Pitta FLEX: A. Foster, M. Colston, G. Tate Depth: J. Locker, A. Smith, D. Williams K. Carey, M. Evans, N Washington, D. Bowe. K: A. Vinatieri DE: J. Allen LB: L. Kuechly, D. Ryans, K. Dansby, N. Bowman DB: A. Rolle Strengths: LB, RB Weaknesses: WR, Flex Depth Analysis: Honestly this is a pretty well-rounded draft from PSJ. Nabbing Colston that late was an incredible steal. Forte and Foster represent a very formidable RB duo. I do have some concerns about how well these WRs will end up performing. Patterson seems to be a bit overrated in my opinion. I'm not as high on Dennis Pitta as some are. Evans, Tate, and Colston should all perform solidly, but none of them are going to put up true #1 numbers. Grade: B Jent Draft Spot: 5 Roster QB: P. Manning RB: L. Bell WR: V. Cruz TE: J. Reed FLEX: J. Edelman, A. Ellington, D. Jackson Depth: A. Dalton, S. Jackson, A. Bradshaw, T. Richardson, D. Brown, S. Taylor, E. Decker, C. Clay K: J. Tucker DE: M. Wilkerson LB: D. Johnson, S. Tulloch, D. Trevathan, D. Butler DB: M. Burnett Strengths: Falling asleep at 8:30 PM like a senior citizen. Weaknesses: Knowledge of who is Le'Veon Bell Analysis: Jent will hope to ride Peyton Manning to glory at a hefty 5th overall price tag. He was able to load up on RBs, but I feel like most of them are going to amount to nothing. Stephen Jackson is old and broken, Trent Richardson sucks, Donald Brown is buried. However, Andre Ellington should be a nice pick. The WR corps of Cruz, Edelman, Desean Jackson, and Eric Decker is solid but not spectacular. There are 4 potential WR2s there. Grade: B- Ziggy Draft spot: 6 Roster QB: N. Foles RB: E. Lacy WR: J. Jones TE: R. Gronkowski FLEX: R. Jennings, B. Tate, J. Maclin Depth: J. McCown, C. Ivory, T. West, A. Dobson, R. Randle, R. Cooper, A. Seferian-Jenkins K: M. Crosby DE: R. Quinn LB: J. Mayo, P. Riley, B. Cushing, D. Smith DB: H. Smith, T. Branch Strengths: Butt-chugging jagerbombs, IDPs, Starters Weaknesses: Flex Depth, WRs Analysis: Zig should probably stick to picking while drunk. The core of Lacy/Julio/Gronk is destined to be a winner, but there were some questionable calls later in the draft. Going Foles/Gronk is a ballsy move that could pay off. However, I don't feel Ziggy picked well in the middle rounds at all. Monopolizing the Cleveland backfield and Philly Receiving corps could pay dividens, but it also putting a lot of eggs in the same basket. Ziggy's biggest strength is his starters and his surprisingly solid IDP group, which should help pick up the slack for underwhelming flex plays. Grade: B- Smeg Draft Spot: 7 QB: A. Rodgers RB: G. Bernard WR: R. Cobb TE: J. Witten FLEX: F. Jackson, M. Crabtree, K. Wright Depth: E. Manning, D. McFadden, K. Moreno, D. Amendola, K. stills, G. Jennings, J. Cook K: S. Gostkowski DE: C. Johnson LB: P. Posluszny, L. Briggs, D. Jackson DB: A. Bethea, J. Byrd, K Chancellor Strengths: QB Weaknesses: RB, WR, Flex Depth Analysis: Smeg went Rodgers 7th overall and seemed to suffer when it came to the middle rounds. I don't see much potential out of a lot of these picks. Guys like Stills, Jennings, and McFadden appear to be secondary options at best. Puzzling move drafting 3 DBs. Most teams only have 1. Grade: C- LonghornFan Draft Spot: 8 Roster QB: D. Brees RB: A. Morris WR: V. Jackson TE: J. Cameron FLEX: S. Vereen, TY Hilton, F. Gore Depth: R. Tannehill, J. Hill, J. Grimes, K. Britt, R. Wayne, T. Austin K: P. Dawson DE: D. Ware, M. Williams LB: B. Wagner, T. Suggs, M. Kendricks, M. Foster DB: E. Weddle, C. Tillman Strengths: Pot Smoking, Hot Wife Weaknesses: Limp Dick. Inner Loop. Analysis: Brees Good. Morris Good. Jackson Good. Rest mostly ****. Grade: C+ moes Draft spot: 9 Roster QB: M. Ryan RB: M. Lynch WR: C. Johnson TE: G. Olsen FLEX: T. Gerhart, K. Allen, P. Harvin Depth: T. Bridgewater, B. Pierce, L. Taliaferro, C. Michael, R. Turbin, M. Wallace, M. lee, K. Benjamin, T. Kelce K: C. Barth DE: JJ Watt LB: P. Wollilow, W. Woodyard, J. Houston DB: K. Vacarro Strengths: Ridiculously good looking Weaknesses: Can't go left Analysis: Sublime Grade: 100 Flash Draft spot: 10 Roster QB: T. Brady RB: D. Sproles WR: AJ Green TE: J. Graham FLEX: J. Thomas, M. Floyd, P. Garcon Depth: M. Ingram, R. Helu, C. Hyde, J. Stewart, D. Freeman, H. Nicks, J. Gordon, M. Wheaton, J. Boykin K: R. Gould DE: C. Jordan LB: P. Willis, T. Davis, R. Shazier DB: C. Pryor Strengths: TE Weaknesses: QB, RB, WR, Flex, Depth, DE, LB, DB Analysis: As great as a draft as you will ever see from a TE hoard position. Flash chose to stick true to the board and went Jimmy Graham and Julius Thomas. A bold strategy, but it will not pay off. Starting hardly flex worthy RBs will be a pain in the ass all year. Coupled with the now year-long suspension of Josh Gordon, this is one of the worst drafts we may ever see. Grade: G (1 Lower than F) Pete Chilcutt Draft spot: 11 Roster QB: A. Luck RB: M. Ball WR: D. Bryant TE: M. Bennett FLEX: L. Fitzgerald, E. Sanders, J. Hunter Depth: B. Roethslisberger, R. Hillman, A. Williams, K. Robinson, B. Sankey, D. Allen, J. Matthews K: N. Novak DE: J. Pierre-Paul, C. Dunlap LB: V. Burfict, C. Lofton, Z. Brown DB: J. Cyprien, T. Jennings Strengths: WR Weaknesses: RB Analysis: I believe this is a pretty well conceived draft, but a lot hinges on whether Montee Ball is able to establish himself as a top 10 back. If Ball posts Knowshown numbers or anywhere close, I feel this team is a definite contender based on a strong draft throughout. Very nice WR corps here. Bryant-Fitz-Sanders-Hunter is solid top to bottom. I also like Bennett as a sneaky top 8 TE. Vontaze Burfict is a beast in the middle. Grade: A- SamCassell Draft Spot: 12 QB: C. Newton RB: D. Murray WR: D. Thomas TE: V. Davis FLEX: R. Mathews, A. Johnson, J. Bell Depth: R. Wilson, P. Thomas, J. McKinnon, L. Dunbar, D. Woodhead, A. Boldin, B. Hartline, C. Shorts K: D. Bailey DE: J. Tuck LB: A. Ogletree, J. Freeman, C. Greenway DB: B. Church, E. Reid Strengths: Great starters Weaknesses: Flex Depth Analysis: I believe Sam did well with the last pick, although I probably would have opted for Marshawn Lynch over DeMarco Murray. There are 5 good offensive players here and Davis is a good TE on most weeks. There will be questions about Cam this year, but Russell Wilson should be a good option for when Cam has a tougher matchup. I think this is a playoff team only if everyone stays healthy though, because I'm not crazy about the depth. Grade: B-
My draft fail off the rails when Gerhart went off the board forcing me to reach for Jennings, a player that isn't technically even a good football player. For some reason I was terrified of RB's that had let me down in the past and had some daydream that Maclin was going to get 12 targets a game. I'm basically Bender, only good when sauced.
My dick if a lefty. I also paid zero attention to the draft, too RL busy learning a new operating system at work, and, well, drinking, smoking and sexting.
Moes always *hearts* my teams. What do you think of my Griffin/Cutler QB tandem? At this point, I'm a bit uneasy. Choosing between Griffin/Kaepernik/Ryan was my single most agonizing moment of the draft, and the one that could really come back to bite me in the ass if I guessed wrong. That pick actually took place before the Washington-Cleveland game occurred, which ended up causing a lot of negative press for Griffin, bumping down his stock a bit. Griffin has the highest ceiling, but also the lowest floor of that trio and I get blinded by upside sometimes. I still really like Cutler at this point, and am happy to have him. In hindsight, though, I think I maybe should have gone Ryan over RGIII. Aside from that, I love the rest of my team and wouldn't change anything else. Not worried about TE -- I figure I'll play Gates at TE until either he breaks down or Lardass overtakes him based on sheer talent. Thanks for the evaluations!
Also, 5 bucks to the tip jar says Brandon Spikes is a top 15 fantasy scoring LB this year (unless he get hurt and missed games).
I feel like Cutler will be able to carry you when RG3 inevitably breaks down. I was more than happy to have Matty Ice fall to me as I think he will get back on the horse this year. I'm not a big believer in high drafting LBs either. Every year there will be more than a couple guys who come out of nowhere to beast. Not to mention there is little point separation between the 10th and 30th best LB. I'm fine waiting for a new Vontaze Burfict on the waiver wire.
Lol at Matt Ryan. The suck and no Gonzalez. Good luck with that. Had him before, learned my lesson. I hope to win, caress and sleep with my toilet bowl trophy this year.
That recap looks like it took a lot of time. Nice work, moes. I'm pretty sure I wasn't picked as the favorite either of the last two years, and I won both seasons, so I think I might be ok this season, too. One thing about football is that health plays a big part for every team. I don't think anybody's team is capable of withstanding a season ending injury to a key player. But it's going to happen to multiple teams, again, this year.
And I read your post in the voice of Howard from Big Bang Theory. Come at me breh! Can't wait to face Drew Brees and the Breesettes in week 1. Frank Gore's legs might literally fall off this season.
I have no idea who that is. I also have a gorgeous general. Wife adores it. Moes and Ziggy have. Kam and a few others as well. I'm not shy around my CF bruhs in real life. She a'ight.
