Where would anyone get the idea that me saying Dwight might opt out when he can might mean that he might want to leave??? -innocent man
LeBron Parsons will win 3 MVP's with Dallas and Dwight will sign there for vet min. Fegan will also be happy about vet min. Panic!
I don't see how right now, we are better than last year. We lost 3 rotation players and replaced it with just one. Ariza is a good fit but I don't think he can make up for the combined production of Parsons, Lin and Asik. I think we still have to wait and see if we can declare that we are in fact better than last year. Still too early.
Not irreplaceable doesn't mean that you will actually find a good or even adequate replacement, especially given that the team prioritizing flexibility and some other teams being more willing to spend on the better candidates. The team has resources to use. But how willing is Morey to use them? Maybe Joey Dorsey will translate to the NBA. Maybe Morey will find a solid vet or a good player from overseas to play PG. Maybe Nick Johnson or Canaan will be ready. But we don't know at this point. Morey may work hard and make smart signing at low prices, but even smart bets don't work sometimes, especially when they are cheap bets-- for example, none of the minimum wage free agents signed last season really worked out and the midseason Jordan Hamilton addition worked for maybe 10 days. Also, while Trevor Ariza is a good get for the starting SF role, the team was missing a backup wing all last season, too. That hole is still there. The team really doesn't have anyone proven coming off the bench at any of the positions and that's a pretty big deal.
I think we will be about the same this season honestly. Around 55 wins, probable second round or first round upset. Loss of Asik, Lin and slight downgrade at SF will be offset by the growth of Beverley, Harden, Jones and DMo. Plus the Harden/Howard chemistry will be better.
I think it was referring to this post: Would certainly fit with all the smoke about acquiring a PG. Gogi is an interesting possibility. Would he start and take the playmaking reigns off of Harden or would he come to be a Manu-type sixth man playing a lot of minutes alongside Beverley in a smallball backcourt?
However, the year before Beverly worked great and the year before that Parsons worked out pretty well. And before that...... based on track record, there is more reason to believe morey will find adequate replacements than there is not to believe.
