I support Palestine, but it's kind of hard to blame Howard for not wanting to get involved in this. On one hand, people will see this as standing up for a just cause, and on the other, his boss and teammate, Casspi, are Jewish. And to no one's surprise, here's Casspi's take.

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en"><p>600 missiles been fired from GAZA by Hamas in the last 4 days. NUMBERS DONT LIE. STOP LYING.</p>&mdash; Omri Casspi (@Casspi18) <a href="https://twitter.com/Casspi18/statuses/488103428179378176">July 12, 2014</a></blockquote>

Omni nailed it. Hamas can't just fire hundreds of missiles at Israel and not expect a response. Common sense.

give me a fkin break dude. "hamas" is firing DIY missles that are capable of going 7 to 20ish miles while israel is blindly GBU-28 bombs (5000 pound bombs with laser and GPS guidance systems). You dont bomb an entire damn city due to a certain group of people. you really think they're only bombing "hamas" targets? what responsibility or or consequences do they suffer if they kill civilians in the process?

    http://www.jewishvirtuallibrary.org/jsource/UN/usvetoes.html

lets look up the resolutions that have been filed against Israel and what was done about it. Israel does whatever the fk they want to do bcz they know no one is going to stop them or hold them accountable

Israel can't just fire overwhelming ordinance on densely populated urban areas, violate international law, take political prisoners including children, negotiate in bad faith, and impose an economic blockade designed to keep Gaza on the "brink of collapse" without "expecting a response".

This ****ed up scenario gets dragged on and on and on again. Israel has built Palestine into the monster it wants to see.

Very simplistic and presumptuous statement for a person seemingly so educated and on top of things.

What's to keep me from saying "astros123 nailed it. Israel can't just bomb several sites in Gaza, killing many innocents in the process, and not expect a response. Common sense."

I'm not presuming to defend Hamas; I'm just trying to say the conflict there is so much more complicated that you can't just point your finger at one side and say they alone are completely to blame.

Also (and this isn't directed to bigtexxx), if Omri Casspi can tweet whatever he wants about the conflict, then why can't Dwight? Why does he HAVE to take his teammates and fans' feelings into consideration?

If a lone nut built a crude rocket from a bunch of Fourth of July fireworks and then fired it from your neighborhood toward a local police station so that it hit on the ground outside, shattering the precinct windows, would it make sense for the police to respond by requesting that the US Military go in and drop GBU-28 bombs (5000 pound bombs with laser and GPS guidance systems) throughout your neighborhood in the belief that this will terrify you into locating the lone nut and convincing him not to fire more homemade rockets?

The majority of people in Gaza have no control over Hamas operatives. They have no more control than you and I have over crazed gunmen or criminals of all sorts who kill within our communities. It makes no sense for Israel to attack the general Gaza populace whenever a few Hamas fighters shoot off crude DIY missiles that travel about 9 to 14 miles. Israel has a missile shield that intercepts many of these simple rockets. It has the ability to move settlers near the border regions into more protected areas away from the range where these rockets fall. Israel has many, many choices.

Given that most Gaza rockets do nothing more than land in fields, Israel could scoot people out of range and sit back and laugh at the pathetic “firecrackers” that fall harmlessly without effect. Full military attacks by the IDF serve as recruiting tools for Hamas and encourage Palestinians to be militants.

The media also should do a much better job of comparing the weapons used by the Israeli army (guided missiles, white phosphorus, DIME bombs dropped from fighter jets, etc.) with those used by individual Hamas fighters (unguided, short-range rockets that travel 9-14 miles).

A lot of Hamas backers around here -- insane. They're pure terrorists.

Hey guys, maybe if they stopped firing 150 missiles a day at Israel, the Israelis wouldn't retaliate? Not that hard to understand people. Leave your biases behind and think.

the simple truth is that a disproportionate amount of Palestinians die. No amount of "oh, but we try our best to keep civilians from dying" will stop the numbers of deaths on both sides---but mostly on the Palestinian one.

Israel deserves a better government that will end the violence. It has gotten a madhouse one that will only bring death to both sides.

#freepalestine. And while we're at it, #freeisrael from Likud.

Srsly debating with you is a complete waste of time as you have no knowledge of what happens AT ALL. Are you srsly effin r****ded? Whenever Israel bombs a school/hospital/clinic claim is there was a homemade rocket nearby and suddenly infanticide is fair game. Let's assume that the civilians killed did have a missile somewhere in their general vicinity, collective punishment is still in violation of the 4th Geneva convention.

They're firing missiles at Jerusalem and Tel Aviv which are 40-50 miles away so you are wrong on that account. And the casualties would be very high in Israel if they didn't have Iron Dome. At least 30 rockets have been fired at Tel Aviv already and would be landing directly in the heart of the city.

I wonder why Omri. What could possibly get people pissed enough to fire rockets indiscriminately into Israel.

And who do you think Hamas is firing those 600 missiles (only in the past 4 days) at? Precise military targets? Nope, anywhere in Israel will do.

Question -- Can you at least agree that Hamas is a despicable terrorist organization? Yes or no?

OKay BUT THEY DO HAVE AN IRON DOME. Thats like saying, "oh if usa had no army then we would have other countries to invade us"

well thats why you do have a defense system. Theres not a single death or any sort of REMOTE tangible damage. Majority of the injures being suffered are ANXIETY ATTACKS.

Funny to ask someone if they are r****ded, when spelling in the same sentence seriously as "srsly"
