should have spent this money on Hawes though. Would have been a great fit and it was reported that he wanted to be in houston last year I believe.

    Super deal.
Ariza will excel in a 3rd or 4th wheel kind of role. Real solid defender, solid 3 point shooter who has improved each of the last 4 years, solid rebounder, just good all round.

Flexibility to trade Parsons now if we want (dear Minny, we have a nice pick from NoLa and Parsons, wanna talk?)

Think about it this way -

What if the Rockets traded Lin & Asik (at 16.8 mil in cap) & a late 1st round pick

for Ariza (at 8 mil per next year) & cleared cap to sign another player at 5 or so mil?

all while keeping Parsons (if they want)

    ??????

Its not getting a 3rd star but.... Here's the bright side way of looking at it:

At least the Rockets are on their way to turning two large contracts & only one usable role player into potentially 2 good players on valuable contracts. One of which is an NBA starter that upgrades this teams perimeter defense & gives 3 point shooting.

Its not a bad signing at all, and the Rockets can still make this offseason pretty damn good with signing or acquiring someone else (hopefully a good big) and then matching Parsons. All the while only losing Lin (negative value), Asik (expiring contract player that was leaving anyways), and a later first rounder.

I have a feeling Morey is about to also bring in not just one, but maybe two more good quality players following this signing so lets just wait and see.

!!! Rockets can now play a small ball line-up of:

    Howard
    Parsons
    Ariza
    Harden
    Beverly

Ridiculous shooting and athletic ability there. I'm very happy with this trade, Morey shows why he is one of the best GMs in the league.

Match Parsons and have him come off the bench backing up Ariza and whoever plays at the 4, probably Jones. Let him do that all next season. Parsons, max bench guy. Yeah, I like the sound of that.

Not holding my breath on Llull, although I'd love it if we could finally bring him over. Maybe in a year. I seriously doubt if it's this coming season, from what I've heard.

In hindsight, we should have. But we didn't know what would transpire. If we had no chance at any of the big guys then I think we would have made that deal in a heart beat. He was so cheap.

its an absolute must that we match Parsons. We have to show dwight, harden, the league that players want to play for us. We can move parsons if needed for 2016, same with ariza. Pay the money, lets win some damn games and have legit players beg us for a spot on our team

You cannot trade Parsons until Dec 15th and you cannot trade without his consent for 1 year

pretty sure we're still matching Parson guys. Ariza just brings the defense though that was need against the Durants, something Parsons cannot do, so that fills the need there.

We still have gaping hole at the 4 though, someone to guard LMA.

If he just focuses on being a 3&D guy, then we're good.
