Never thought about it, but I lean "yes", white guys are overpaid. Sure, there are overpaid black players, it's just more likely that a white guy will receive extra cheddar.
I think they get drafted higher than they should (Adam Morrison, Joe Alexander) but I wouldn't say they are overpaid. The draft is unique in overhyping talent
It may seem that way, but honestly Hayward and Parsons are both very good players, they may be a little overpaid, but they do still deserve to get respect from the likes of people on fan forums. Parsons has had an extremely impressive 3 years in the league, which saw improvement in almost every aspect of the game. Obviously his defense got a lot worse, but the talent is surely there (see Rookie season). Parsons has a great reputation around the league, commentators and fans alike speak highly of him. He deserves a $12 to $13 million per year contract, he got 15, is that really that bad? I don't know Hayward's defensive game, but I know offensive he's pretty similar to Parsons. His FG% has gone down but that's really a side effect of being the best offensive weapon on a team. On a team with other options on the perimeter (like the Hornets) he would be a great piece, just like Parsons was/is to Houston. Once again, THe Jazz offered him a $12 million/year deal, he demanded 13, and then he got a little over 15 from Charlotte. A couple million here and there isn't really enough to justify this kind of a thread. Oh and just to prove their talents, Hayward was one of 4 players in the NBA to average atleast 16 ppg, 5 apg, and 5 rpg (others were Lebron, KD, MCW). Parsons was one of 5 players in the NBA to average 16 ppg, 4 apg, and 5.5 rpg (Lebron, KD, Love, MCW). I think the fact that this thread was created in the first place shows racism on YOUR part. For some reason, you thought it was out there for these players to get paid this much money. In all honestly, we have seen much worse contracts out there, for much lesser players. Dallas fans are very excited for an opportunity to have Parsons and I'm sure Charlotte feels the same way for Hayward. These are very good players, and they are very young and just because they don't fit your mold for high earning NBA players, you seek out a similarity between the two (ethnicity) and point to that as a reason for these contracts. I point to their all-around styles and their performance in their very young careers. I don't want Parsons to leave but don't be bitter. Get a grip.
Harden got the max Howard got the max Kobe got the max Carmelo got the max LeBron will get the max Mike Miller is not getting the max
Chandler Parsons, Gordon Hayward, and Lance Stephenson deserve comparable salaries based on their abilities. 9-12M range, IMO. Two got lucky and got overpaid, like Rashard Lewis got overpaid years ago when he was the top paid player in the league and not even near a top 10 player in ability. The one of the three who has a reputation of being more than a little bit crazy (blowing in opponent's ears, sulking when he doesn't make the all-star team, perhaps playing for personal stats at times, perhaps not being the best teammate) scares more than justa few teams off. Simple as that.
duh Let's remember most of the people answering this poll are probably white. In areas outside of the NBA, whites are paid more than minorities with equal qualifications. This phenomenon in economics is well studied. Judging from the transaction this offseason, alot of players have been paid handsomely. Parsons, Hayward, and McRoberts all had signings all above expectation. Lowry was fleeced. No one is willing to pay Lance more than $9m/yr that the Pacers offered. It's not like Lance punched people. American white players feed a market to white fans. Look at how many white kids get online and talk about Parsons or Hayward. Also, let's remember owners, GMs, and coaches are mostly white too. To think there's no bias there, is basically ignoring all the research, and frankly idiotic.
If you don't agree with this proof that whites are actually underpaid, then you're an anti-white racist! F'n OBAMA hating on whites, rabble rabble rabble. #maxmikemiller
In general? No. Parsons and Hayward are, but there are tons of examples of non-white players that are overpaid, so this argument doesn't really hold water.
