This is why players shouldn't give a damn what fans think when it comes to free agency.

    These fans ain't loyal.

    Slow your roll there, bud.

Regardless of what we THINK we know about Melo, this is the first time in his life that he has been a free agent, and he wants to make an informed decision.

From the first minute he was allowed to entertain other teams' offers, he has been on a whirlwind tour of different cities and teams. He's actually gone remarkably quickly through his suitors. Now he has a holiday weekend over which to make one of the biggest decisions of his life.

Chill out and let the man make up his mind!

Until he signs with a team F what the media or anyone says... I don't believe anyone but Carmelo at this point.

Haha yeah fair enough. But check out this reddit (posted here a couple hours ago): http://www.reddit.com/r/rockets/comments/29uric/well_its_happening/?sort=old

Apparently Lin/Bev/Jones/Parsons would all be moved for Love. Forget the credibility of the Reddit, as I expect the above package will be necessary. You really want to give up all that? That's a lot of production to make up.

We would need to sign Jameel Nelson and Isaiah Thomas after that trade.

I this true, the scenario seenms pretty realistic

    Barea
    Harden
    Budinger
    Love
    Howard

Then we'd have MLE, BAE and vetmins to upgrade the PG, SF spots and the bench.

What sort of cap space would we have after trading for Love?

Obviously we'd have some of Minnesota's detritus in the deal. Then go after what we're missing with what little cap money we have left, or use future picks and our TEs gained from trading Asik, Lin, etc.

    Front-runner?

New York. Carmelo left a meeting Thursday night with Phil Jackson, Derek Fisher and was in line with their vision rebuilding this team. New York feels very confident about their chances when 'Melo makes his decision in the next day or two.

    LeBron?

Pat Riley is aggressively out there pursuing free agents to bring back to the big three. Met with Gasol in LA. May talk to Luol Deng. He needs to find a supporting cast LeBron is ready to sign off on. If he can't, LeBron is open to meeting teams. Phoenix is ready to tell him to play GM, pick your roster. We can sign another max player this summer, Chris Bosh if you want, or next year. His focus is on trying to get this done with Miami.

I think you'll be happy with who would be coming with Love in that 3 team deal.

New York seems too easy not trying to make it hard but why opt our in the first place? If that is where the man wants to be he should just be a knick. Seems immature at this stage of his career to do all this with supposedly having a championship mind state right now.

we're wasting valuable time with Melo.. Its time to move on to other good free agents before their signed...Why aren't we interested in Pau Gasol.. him and dwight had good chemistry in LA.

Pau doesn't care for Dwight (supposedly).

And he has better options like Miami, Oklahoma City and San Antonio. Maybe Phil pulls more jedi-mind tricks and gets him to New York?

If that's all it takes to get Love, then I'm all for it.

That's it? That's a lot right there in itself and it'll probably also cost us at least New Orleans's first. A lot of variables as well. Love has to want to be here long-term and Parsons would need to be signed as well.

Lin, Patrick Beverly, Terrance Jones and Chandler Parsons are allot to give up.
But I would trade all of them in a heart-beat for Kevin Love.

Here's the thing. Kevin Love is the best player out of the group of players that are being traded. It is hard to get a guy like Kevin Love. Love gives you rebounding, scoring and improved defense (even though his defense is not all that great). The guys we are trading can be replaced relatively easily, either through the draft or free agency. Kevin Love can't.

Since Chandler Parsons defense has regressed since his rookie season, and it was his defense that made him stand out in his rookie season, I no longer consider Chandler Parsons to be a deal breaker.

I would even trade James Harden straight up for Kevin Love. Kevin Love is the better of the two players. The production in scoring and rebounding that Kevin Love gives you is more difficult to replace than the scoring production that James Hardens gives you. The fact that Kevin is only 25 and they would essentially have the same salary, makes the decision even easier.

Please understand, I am not saying we should trade James Harden, but if that is the price to acquire Kevin Love's services, then that is the price you need to be willing to pay. He is after all, the best rebounding and scoring power forward in the game. (Please do not mention Blake Griffin.)
