I'd like to preface by saying I hope to God we land someone in the LeBron/Melo/Love group. But lets say LeBron stays in Miami, Melo goes somewhere else, Love isn't attainable...what are other options besides bringing back our prodigal son Kyle Lowry? With Phoenix drafting Tyler Ennis and apparently wanting to keep him, Eric Bledsoe's days might be numbered. Lets say the Rockets finish their summer cleaning by trading Lin away in return for capspace (under the assumption that they just got burned by LeBron and/or Melo), would you want the Rockets to take a hard look at Eric Bledsoe despite him being a RFA?
I don't think there is a point. He is a worth a max contract to many teams and he is going to get it. Phoenix will match.
I think Phoenix will match any and all contract offers for Bledsoe, even a max offer. So, no chance of getting him. Their selection of another PG makes little difference in what they do with Bledsoe. PHX's GM, Ryan McDonough, worked for the Celtics before this gig. So, like Morey, he's pretty much in the "best asset available" school of drafting.
I think Phoenix matching a MAX deal is 50/50. Suns will try to reach deal and not wait to match offers I am assuming if they'll start off with a deal in the $10-$12 million range and hope Bledsoe bites before another team drops the max offer on him.
I'd take him or rondo over the big 3 stars. LeBron is not going to happen Love wants to go to California ( don't want to get burned trading assets so he can leave to lakers) Melo is a possibility, but imo he doesn't fit this team. This team already doesn't fit well i feel like. Dont get me wrong, we are good but we have to work in unison (not iso) We need a good PG to set up plays, position people, disrupt the D, and make the pass. I think a really good point guard will maximize our two stars and whole team We also need a coach who makes plays
People thought the same when we maxed out Harden. In reality, you pay the players what the market dictates. Sometimes it pans out (Harden, John Wall and to a lesser extent DeAndre Jordan) sometimes it doesn't (Joe Johnson, Eric Gordon tbd., Josh Smith tbd).
one of the best up and coming players in the NBA. if we struck out on Lowry, Bosh, Melo, Love and Bron, i'd seriously consider Bledsoe. Kid is gonna be an allstar one day. He's a more athletic Lowry before Lowry was Lowry.
Meh, Harden does everything (EXCEPT defense) better the bledsoe, we wouldn't have enough use for him to sigm him to a max deal IMO. Rather sign a defensive specialist for cheaper and give max to someone who's going to be more versatile player to Hardens game.
Bledsoe is like Bev, except with better offense and defense. Pairing him next to Harden would be fantastic.
I'd definitely be all for giving him the max (would be around $14 million for him, right) to play alongside Harden, Dwight, Parsons and our soon to be acquired PF. But unfortunately, I think Phoenix will match it.
Phoenix matches everything similar to how Memphis had a no-brainer match with the Marc Gasol RFA contract a few years ago. I'm assuming he sits for awhile in free agency, and ultimately someone with cap space does Phoenix's GM a solid and signs him so they can match and move on. I think he would be a great fit the Rockets, but unless Phoenix knows something about Bledsoe's health that we dont (and in that case we dont want him anyways), they are matching the offer.
would love to have him...we need a point guard to get the ball out of hardens hands(force him to go back to being a catch and shoot player*he will be DEADLY*)..lowry, bledsoe, and rondo are guys that could make this happen
If you strike out on everyone: Bosh, Melo, Lebron, Lowry, etc. and Alexander has opened the coffers, it makes sense to overpay for Bledsoe (or one of the other RFAs). This summer is our last opportunity to use the cap space, or it is gone for the duration of our big three's contracts.
Bledsoe actually shot about the same as Kyle Lowry last year. Granted, Eric did miss a bunch of games but like Aruba77 kind of said, he's a younger more athletic Kyle Lowry. Bledsoe shot chart 2013-2014 Lowry shot chart 2013-2014
Great defender, his skillset is probably better suited with Phoenix because Dragic can play well off the ball. Right now Harden is a bit too ball dominating, regardless of if we have no choice or not. Bledsoe is better with the ball in his hands but he can shoot the 3 at a respectable %. The fact that Bledsoe has been injured with the Clippers and the Suns makes me a bit weary on his durability but I would welcome him as an upgrade if all else fails. I'd rather pick up Lowry though over Bledsoe though because that scenario is at least a bit more reasonable seeing as how Lowry is a FA and not a RFA.
