Do you like the trade of Omer Asik for cap space and a protected first rounder?

The only thing I got so far is we are trying to get LeBron, but not expecting it to happen.

I just can't help but get that feeling that Morey is pulling a fast one on us, so-to-speak. He wants to divert our attention into thinking he made this trade in order to clear cap space in order to get Melo or 'Bron, when what he's really doing is just adding another trade chip in order to acquire Kevin Love & lock him up to a long-term deal. Conspiracy theorist? Perhaps.

It does just as little good for you to pretend like it was a wasted season because DM didn't pull the trigger on this crappy trade.

In retrospect the idea that Bass and Lee additions, while losing Asik, would have made the Rockets real championship contenders last season, seems really really dumb. Crystal ball or not. I'd rather have the pick.

As others have pointed out, this means no SnT for Melo, LeBron or Bosh. Will have to be cap room.

This does not eliminate from trading for Love, however.

Morey's clearly gunning for the 14th pick again.

I mean...if Morey brings in Kevin Love I will worship the man. Couldn't care less if he was "pulling a fast one on us".

I think this will be an overwhelmingly "YES". I think the pick will help us get rid of Lin. What exciting times for the Rockets. I can't even think about going to sleep for the next few weeks.

Help me understand this....so what sort of compensation are we given if its too low?

I understand the "top" protection as it gives the team trading the pick away some security, but in this case if its too low it doesn't net us anything. Are we really saying that if the pick is 20+, NO can basically just take asik ?

Haha, my sentiments exactly. "Fast one" or not, what a move that would be.

Pelicans already do not have a 2014 first round pick. With this trade, they would not have a 2015 1st round pick.

How is this possible? The Stepien rule does not allow it. I don't get it. There must be more to this trade.

I think this ends with us getting Love and Lowry

I hope you are right we can build around harden and love for a very long time and if Dwight leaves we can sign KD.

So does the pick roll over to the following year?

Pretty sure the pick rolls over then to the next year (and maybe the protection lightens). Better off asking Bima or aelliott.

This deal will not be done/official until July 10th.

The Lowry one made the pick just carry over to next year, so they would owe us their next pick in that range, probably for like 5 or 6 years like Lowry's until it eventually became unprotected.

After the draft tomorrow, their obligation for the 2014 pick will be done.
