The question is one of trust . . .. If i don't trust you . . why would i trust 'your' evidence? Autism is on the rise. . . . you cannot tell me why but you can tell me well . .it's not that. That does not convince people. Esp since something like 90% of all kids are vaccinated. . it is an easy target I guess. The problem is that . . .we are told use the scientific method of questioning everything but when we do . .and it don't add up . . we are told. . WELL WE KNOW MORE THAN YOU . .. TRUST US *shrug* The reality is . . .back in the day . .. they hid information from us now . . .the hit you with so much bull**** you don't know what is real and what is not #HidingInPlainSite Things we think . . . NO WAY ANY ONE COULD BE SO EVIL AND CRUEL NO WAY anyone did that well . . .. we finding out not only did they do it. . but continue to in some cases You cannot tell me . . .They would not experiment on people. . .because they did it Tou cannot tell me .. . no way we would work people 16 hrs day . . .because it was done You cannot tell me .. . . no way the government would cover something up . . .because they do it all the time and call it national security what this points to more than a few knuckleheads and fruitcases is A FUNDAMENTAL LACK OF TRUST IN OUR OWN GOVERNMENT *that* is the problem. our Government and authority figures are seen as untrustworthy whether elected or not Rocket River
I agree with the general premise of the article, but I have a problem with how they use the poll research to say it's so widespread. I think he completely misreads the antichrist question, for example. Some people see the Antichrist as essentially the unique incarnation of the devil, to have some grand showdown with Jesus -- that's how he plays it in the article. But, it is very common interpretation in churches that there are many antichrists and that antichrists are really nothing all that special, just people who are actively working against the growth and success of the church. In that definition, we have a number of antichrists in the D&D. Starting from there, it really isn't all that appalling that 26% of respondents might concede that he could be an enemy of the church. I also don't like how he lumps the Yeses with the Not Sure's. Was it 1% that thought Obama was the antichrist and 25% weren't sure? Is there a separate category for people who don't understand the question? 54% might be unsure about vaccinations and autism, but a hell of a lot more than 46% of the country do get their kids vaccinated. So what does this number really mean? Here's another place where there's probably a big difference between Yes and Not Sure.
The problem isn't conspiracy theorists, it's voices in the media who perpetuate false equivalency. Those arguing that President Obama was born in Kenya or that the earth is 6,000 years old don't deserve to be given a platform or treated like their ideas are worthwhile. They aren't. The "debate" should never exist when all facts show that the theorists are wrong.
Strangely . . it is not force Go Figure Rocket River Been typing like this on The Clutch since before the championships
Then we get into debates on . . 'what is a fact'? I remember a Star Trek episode where this guy beat everyone in a game Everyone knew Commander Data would win he didn't so . .Data decided rather than try to win . . he would just go for the tie and frustrated the man into submission Alot of arguments nowadays are like that Argue every minor detail Argue everything concede nothing no victories for the other side at all . . . just grind the discourse into a halt until the other side gives up Rocket River
Well, I guess it was a similar site. similar setup . . . bbs style I had been on that site for a few years and then it went down i guess and migrated to here when you get to be my age .. . the years merge together Rocket River those heady times of running to the site every hour to see the latest updates during the championship run . . . . .. . DOSE WHERE DA DAYS
The really scary part is that these are the same people that are arming themselves to the teeth, stockpiling weapons and ammunition.
Picture a quadriplegic pecking at a keyboard with a pencil suction cupped to his forehead and it makes sense.
I believe David Stern has a heavy hand (even now) on the outcomes of playoff series. Does this mean I get lumped in with the other crazies?
It'd help if the government would stop lying to us constantly about everything and stop trying going to war at the drop of a hat.
Bravo. This world is messed up. We just all pretend and do our best to be happy. Taking care of our friends and family.
It sounds like the author is trying to further validate specific beliefs of his by falsely affixing a certain level of zealotry and immorality to those he disagrees with. Ignorance is much more a function of apathy and complacency. If you're not reading or researching topics enough to be fully informed, you won't invest a lot of time or energy either promoting or opposing them, so not at all dangerous.
I think questioning your government is very healthy. We have lost the media as a watchdog for government, and government has a history of lying, cheating and stealing.
