Mayock had him falling to Dallas too. Part of my thinks that's just searching for storylines in a Mock. "If Houston doesn't take him, then I should mock him to Dallas because that'll keep him in Texas."
Texans don't have to do anything. They don't even have to take Clowney. If they don't like Manziel at all (which is totally possible since he seems to be the most polarizing player in the draft), they would absolutely field offers or go a different direction.
The RGIII haul was probably what they were asking for from Buffalo since they'd be moving down further. For a team closer to the top pick, it makes sense they'd ask for less. And that's still a little more than the 2 1sts and a 2nd that most of us were expecting.
ESPN reporter basically said that BOB wants Manziel, but can't justify it at number one. Saying he is the trade down target..... Whaaaa?
RGIII was a 2nd overall pick. Regardless of who your trade partner is you have to AT LEAST start with the equal value of a 2nd overall pick considering you're giving up the 1st overall. This will always be the starting point, how far we go down from here is up to the two teams finalizing a potential deal.
You can't compare one draft to another in that way. One was a QB (franchise QB at that), the other's a DE. I imagine that if someone traded for the 1st or 2nd pick last year to take an OT in a weak draft, they'd get the same or maybe even less than what we're asking.
<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en"><p>Teams that have inquired about trading UP include DET, NYJ, CLEV (from 26), SF, HOU (from round 2 into 1), ATL (from round 2 into 1).</p>— Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter) <a href="https://twitter.com/AdamSchefter/statuses/464416977755205632">May 8, 2014</a></blockquote> <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>
That's whatt we've been trying to tell people here **cough cough bobby** but they seem to think that they equal out in terms of value. They DON'T, whether you believe RGIII is a franchise QB or not it's not the same. But of course it would only make sense for the Texans to start there since they can always lower the asking price but it would be next to impossible to increase it. I never thought we would get that for our first but a little less wouldn't be to bad for most here. Most.
these teams are high if they think we are not going to get another top 10 pick this year... if we traded back into the second round I would want the teams entire next draft.
