I have been accused of misanthropy and my defense is MOST people are just crap. Feel free to just give an estimate based on whatever.
I don't know what brought this on and I don't really care, but if you really believe most people are crap then how do you go on? Seriously how do you get out of bed in the morning?
Don't plenty of people live with the idea that man is inherently evil/hedonistic/selfish? Its not an odd worldview.
You need to see the good in everyone. Stop living in a dark world full of hatred. There will be some idiotic and awful people. But that doesn't mean that represent most of the human civilization. Jontro once said, "Don't hate but masturbate." Okay, maybe he didn't say that.
I don't hate any human...however, I simply dislike all of them. I'm an animal lover for the simple fact that they don't talk back. LOL All my children have paws.
You might think so, but a Bandwagoner is a fickle person who really has no true devotion to anything. So it seems a likely psychology. Also I think everyone hates at least some. I was just wondering the percentage.
Good point, but people please do not get caught up in semantics. For the purposes of this thread: Hate = Dislike = Despise = Scorn
I think every living thing on this Earth is inherently selfish, but that doesn't necessarily make them evil or hedonistic. Sometimes the only thing that gets me through the day is knowing this.
Luke 14:26 "If anyone comes to me and does not hate father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters--yes, even their own life--such a person cannot be my disciple.
"If you run into an ******* in the morning, you ran into an *******. If you run into assholes all day, you're the *******." -Raylan Givens, Justified
“All things are subject to interpretation. Whichever interpretation prevails at a given time is a function of power and not truth.” ― Friedrich Nietzsche Based on what I know of California and China, I would say 52.3% of humans claim to be Laker fans.
The only humans I really dislike are the APDs (which can include psycho/sociopaths). They comprise 1-3% of the adult population. APD characteristics: Other than that, if you spend most of your time reading inflammatory comments online, watching the popular news on tv, and not interacting with too many people (or people outside your socioeconomic/cultural network), you'll have a negative view of humanity. I used to be somewhat of a misanthrope in my adolescent years, but not anymore. Everyone has good, so-so, and bad days. Rather than seeing 10 or 100 people having bad days making you conclude all of humanity is bad, think harder. If you change your perspective, if you recognize your confirmation bias, you'll learn not to take things so personally. The universe does not revolve around you. You're one very, very tiny thing of a much bigger system. Just because you graduated from Princeton and work for so-and-so company, just because you have a multimillion dollar deal to close in the city you're flying to, just because there are thousands of passengers in front of you slowing you down, doesn't mean you can hurl insults, snap your fingers impatiently, and look down on others. Someone I knew did this often. Once you escape your default road rage at life and get out there, meeting new people and seeing them on their good and so-so days, you'll stop being so misanthropic. It's hard for me sometimes too, but I'm getting better at it. As a bonus to getting out there, meeting the 'jewels' of humanity makes life worth it. These are the real-life heroes/heroines who have no idea how beautiful their souls are. They tirelessly make other people's lives better without any expectations of reward.
