I think this case is also a very troubling trial balloon in that conservatives are finally saying enough. What happens when compliance stops? What happens when the government's force is responded to with force? When the government's perceived power is reduced? We've seen Obama's threats be laughed at by Russia in the Ukrainian dispute. We saw Iran/Syria laugh at Obama's red line in that country. We saw Reid's troops stand down at Bundy's ranch when fire was fought with fire. This government is rapidly earning the reputation of retreating when confronted. What happens when private businesses get fed up with the new healthcare laws and disobey them in large numbers? What happens when energy companies get fed up with environmental regulations and disobey them across the board? What happens when tax payers get fed up with high tax rates and don't comply with paying taxes en masse? An impotent government would be the result -- and if the American populace continues to pride themselves in their ignorance of the issues and continue to vote into office completely ineffective and corrupt politicians, this chain of events may be the end result.

Conservatives have always said enough. They said it in 1861, during Teddy's administration, after FDR won, when LBJ pushed through a law in 1964, when Clinton kicked their ass, and when Obama won. Conservatives will always say enough. It is who they are. They perceive themselves as victims. This guy is no victim. He is a criminal stealing from you and me. Aiding and abetting are you.

People believe Bundy and his supporters are nuts and you just confirm that with your unhinged, scatter brained rants.

NYT, Harry Reid, Syria, Russia, high taxes, deportation, 1800's, armed insurrection, Saul Alinsky... Listen to yourself. Lol

I have to say those were terrible examples.

The Obama Admin. has been notorious for stepping up deportations, and arresting more people for drug offenses---

you kinda seem like somebody who's just talking to talk

This is another example of the NYT not being responsible journalists and attempting to whip up the worst emotions of their readers. The federal government's despicable actions at the Bundy Ranch are in no way viewed differently because Mr Bundy has views on the productivity of blacks in the projects or his views on entitlements give to blacks. Bundy's views on blacks do not have a single thing to do with the issues at hand, which is states rights vs federal rights, the government's aggressive overreach and ridiculous armed response in which several cattle were killed, and Harry Reid's crony capitalism. Those are the true issues. None of those issues are negated or even impacted by Mr Bundy's comments. How can anyone not label the NYT's actions as anything but a diversion technique and a smear attempt?

This reminds me of another example of completely irresponsible journalism when a black teenager was kicked out of school on burglary charges, went to the store to buy ingredients for lean, and on his way back beat a neighborhood watchman within inches of his life. The media then lied, hid information, distorted other information, and played the race card in an effort to convince low information voters/people that the neighborhood watchman was the evil-doer. All the while whipping up the emotions of our country's low information voters in a swing state. Do you not see what they're doing here? How could you not?

When the owner of said cattle is threatening to do 'whatever it takes' in terms of armed response, what would you do?

So you are agreeing with the trespassing Bundy who was using public land for his own personal gain and refusing to comply with the law?

    Is that right?

There is no example of the media reporting on a black teenager being kicked out of school for burglary charges. The incident you are talking about involved a black teenager who had no criminal charges against him in his history and was found with auto and home repair tools that some in the irresponsible media called burglary tools.

The guy is a freakin moron.

The only thing keeping him from being thrown in jail is public opinion. He opens his bigoted mouth and poof no support.

    Dumba$$.

There definitely are some problems with what is going on there but whatever he was trying to accomplish is done. Idiot.

Why the heck does the Federal Government own 87% of Nevada?

I hope someone asks Cliven about his views on gays soon. We need someone to pick up the torch for Fred Phelps.

Maybe the tea partiers, but I know many a Republican who would disagree completely with this guy's comments, not to mention disagreeing with the criminal acts he's committing in the first place.

Your probably right, roughly 50% of the population of the United States believes in their "soul" that poor black people would be better off as slaves. And of course the other side of this coin is, if your a Democrat, your obviously not a bigoted idiot.

What is truly sad is, you believe this. Which says a lot about you.

I'm sick of this argument. If you don't think that way, if you personally find that kind of thinking repugnant, then quit voting for people who appeal to it and encourage it. RM, I know you're just stating an opinion based on your own interactions with Repubs, but when Repubs trot this out, it has lost all validity with me.

What is truly sad is that you cannot see the truth contained in the statement, which says a lot about you.
