The tech is really clunky and unstable. Game of Thrones did a really good job with it but they probably spent tons of money to have all the techs they needed on site. I saw a disaster of a presentation at NAB. Hopefully Facebook can save it.
I'm looking forward to it. I think it has huge potential...enough to be a global entertainment platform like that of a television.
Not a fan of the technology. Microcontrollers, sensors, potentiometers, it's all **** we will be using eventually to build machine parts for our failing human bodies.
I have the DK2 on order. I'm excited for it. Even if the Sony one, the Razr one or some other company comes out with something better down the line, I think it's all besides the point for me. It's furthering a cool technology that I hope will last. And it's only $350 anyway.
Still huge and unwieldy, but I ordered the DK2 anyways. Actual VR tech, the one we dream about, will be at least a decade away (if not longer).
did u get google glass as well? thats another gadget i hope to get... maybe the next version release...
I have the DK1 It is not huge and unwieldy on your head- its actually comfortable (unless you wear glasses). D/W about being disappointed guys.. It is DEFINITELY the future and all its cracked up to be. Your first reaction is 'You wouldn't think we would have this kind of technology for another 15 years or so'. Yep, its that impressive (even with the DK1 mishaps of nausea, resolution and screen door effects). Saying all that, I never use mine- I probably haven't used it in 3+ months.
Funny enough you say this. I think this will gain momentum once the p*rn industry gets involved. Imagine Oculus Rift that shows a VR movie that is synced with a fleshlight. Jontro faints.
I was pretty tempted, but putting down $1.5k to beta test and the whole social stigma surrounding it made me pass (doesn't help I currently at a government facility which that would be a big no-no).
I excited for it, but I'll wait for the consumer model (or other implementations). Don't think I'm quite ready to jump in just yet.
actually im looking forward to sports games like golf n boxing... Wii was fun but VR wld add even more effect to it... I wld imagine theyll be making a wireless headset for consumer release...
