It's not about learning anything, its more about simply adding to the list of reasons why he should be the number 1 pick. Most impressive college career of any of the prospects, stellar pro day. Heart that cannot be questioned, even by his haters, matched with athletic ability that very few QB's can even come close to. JFF is the pick to make. Of course, I will not be surprised if the Texans outsmart themselves and pass on him. This team has a track record of blowing great opportunities. If the Texans do take him, it will prove a lot to me. That this team's direction has changed. That they now have some freaking cojones.
Heard on the radio that somebody mocked Bortles to us at #33. Kiper has us taking Bridgewater there in his latest mock. If these kind of predictions continue, would it be disappointing if the big 3 QBs were gone and we ended up taking somebody like Garoppolo or Mettenberger at #33? I wouldn't want Bortles with the #1 pick, but I'm more than fine with taking him in the 2nd. Some people don't feel that any QB is worthy of #1 pick this year. Well that's kind of how I feel with the 33rd pick. If one of the big 3 hasn't fallen that far, I absolutely don't want to spend that pick on somebody like Garoppolo, McCarron, Mettenberger, or Murray. I'd be fine with taking one of those guys in the 3rd, but not in the 2nd. And at least one of those guys will be there at #65. To me, the difference between the players in that 2nd tier is even less than the difference in that top group.
I'm praying to the football gods that the Texans wind up with Clowney and a (more than?) competent QB. I don't know who that might be, but may the odds be ever in our favor!
Agree 100%. Manziel is a risk, absolutely, but his ceiling is unlimited. Scary potential. And it's a QBs league. Stud pass rushers are awesome to have, but they can't get you to the playoffs, Watt being a perfect example.
I wouldn't freak if it ends up being Bortles, but does he have the same potential as Clowney or Manziel? Selecting him screams gutless.
Shows you how insane people are at this point. If Manziel's ceiling is "unlimited: lmao Get Mariota or Winston next year, their ceilings are 10x unlimited
Better than taking a scrawny QB with small hands, a mediocre arm, average athletic ability, and a wonderlic score that would give him the lowest score amongst all starters in the NFL...and calling him the next Joe Montana. And Mariota is all name, no game...its a good thing he's going back to school, because he was nowhere close to NFL ready. Watch his tape and it's actually laughable that people talked about him as being a top prospect. He's got a ways to go.
Kinda like taking an immature, weak armed, short QB who can't line up under center or decipher blitz schemes and proclaiming him the next Tarkington? No one knows what any of these guys will do but history is more on Teddy's side here than Johnny's.
