THAT's what you got out of this game? The whole team was basically phoning it in in the first half. 9 points, 6 assists, 50% shooting, 3 stl, 1 block, 3 TO (1 offensive charge) in 26 minutes is fine. The team sleep walked through this game, turned it on in the 3rd then checked out for the night. The only thing you can take from a game like this is the the Rockets are much, much, MUCH better than the Lakers.
How good is Harden? He is averaging 29/7/5 since the all star break. Jones? He just needs to be more consistent and stop stomping on homeless people during the off season. Too early to tell on Canaan other than to say he can flat out score. He has quick feet, low center of gravity and a low center of gravity.
It is too early to judge Canaan's ability to run an offense. He did average over 8 assists a game in the NBDL. Also, the idea that the Rockets are magically different when it comes to what they require from their point guards is false. Teams with high level perimeter off guards often prefer shared ball handling duties. The world champion Heat view the point guard position similarly to Houston.
Stop looking at just the box score. Did you watch the game? He wasn't assertive enough and was hesitating quite often. Out of the 6 assists, 3 were in garbage time in the 4th quarter so before that he had 3 assists and 3 turnovers. If you think that is good for a starting PG against some scrubs, so be it. You are entitled to your opinion. I don't really count garbage time as effective, more so garbage time against D Leaguers.
Lin scored 0 points and 3 assists in the 4th. He also got 3 of his steals prior to the 4th. And one of those was a strip while being aggressive driving to the basket. Another TO was a bogus charge call on Nash (who was moving, didn't have his feet set, and wasn't square). He had 1 lazy pass and you're acting like he was giving the ball away all night. He also missed one shot in garbage time, which would have left him at 4/7 shooting or 57% fg%. He didn't light it up, but the rest of the team was so what exactly did you expect him to do when the Rockets had a massive mismatch on the inside with TJones and Harden was on fire? Just grab the ball and take over the game? The team blows the Lakers out on national TV and falls 1 point short of an all time record for points in a quarter and you're fixated on Lin.
From the time the ball is unbounded to Lin he's looking for his teammates to pass the ball. Someone needs to tell Lin this is The NBA not the HPA (Hot Potato Association )
Blowing out some scrubs on National TV doesn't mean the team and all of its players are resistant to criticism. This is the game thread and its for opinions on the game and players. IMO, Lin was the worst Rockets starter out there. Not just his box score (which I only mentioned because you brought it up) but his overall demeanour. Dude barely plays to his strengths which is driving into the paint and either finishing or shooting FT's. He had 0 FT's last night and overall seemed hesitant. For Lin to be effective, he needs to be confident, aggressive, engaged and make quick decisions.
He's right though. You better believe that McHale will bring up their lack of D in the next practice.
no big issue, it was pretty evident that the rockets just coast through the game besides that 3rd quarter. hard to get up against a d league team, plus they were playing at a ridiculous pace
Lin played a solid game to those on here bashing him. Good grief, chill out with all the nonsense. MVP: T. Jones Harden dis his thing as usual. Asik, Parsons, and Canaan had solid games. Canaan is coming into his own now, good to see the youngsta contribute to this team.
HAHAHAHHAHAHAH wow LOH are freaking delusional beyond belief, even in a game like this all you can think about is Lin, he had 9ts 6 assists 4 rebounds 4/8 shooting in 25min but no lets just look at the tape at 2:34 of the second quarter where the "eye test" confirms that he looked "unassertive" because his shoulders were slumped while having a friendly chat with Jodie Meeks. Open your damn eyes and get a life.
Yes, players are not resistant to criticism. Yes this is the game thread and it's for opinions on the game and players. But your opinions were always just focused on Lin. His every single game, every single mistake he made and whenever the chance you have to bash him and trolling on the game. I've seen too much from your biased "opinions".
Maybe somebody has already found this, but did you notice that nba.com confused terrence jones with terrence ross? http://www.nba.com/games/20140408/HOULAL/gameinfo.html?ls=iref:nbahpts
What are you talking about? Terrence Ross scored 33 points for us last night... Who is Terrence Jones?
I feel I got a 2 for 1 deal watching this game. I saw an entire NBA game (115-90) in the first 3 quarters, and then I got to see a pre-season game in the 4th.
