He's been the Rox saving grace down the stretch. Asik's a starting center in this league but when Dwight is healthy, Dwight will be the starter on this team.
He played a great game, but after watching the last 5 games, it's clear that we are a better team with Howard starting. This game shouldn't have been close.
I will add that if Dwight comes back half steppin, McHale should not hesitate to put Asik in there for the bulk of the minutes.
Rockets best chance of winning a championship is with ASIK & HOWARD on the roster. I would not trade him this summer. Lin is important also but his $8.3mill could be used to help for 2 solid VET rotation players on one yr contracts. If you trade ASIK you have to get another 7 footer that can rebound & that won't be cheap !
I can actually buy this... I don't think Dwight will ever be Dwight again and Asik keeps getting better
And how many years has he started? 2012-2013 Rebounding Per 48 Minutes, with over 30 minutes per game played 1 Omer Asik, C HOU 82 30.0 mpg 11.7 reb 18.6 rp48 2 Nikola Vucevic, C ORL 77 33.2 mpg 11.9 reb 17.2 rp48 3 Dwight Howard, C LAL 76 35.8 mpg 12.4 reb 16.7 rp48 That was the first and only year Asik started. Howard didn't have a particularly bad year either.
I am Turkish, and a huge Omer Asik fan. But when you have Dwight, you play him. I really wished TT would work though. Omer in the bench is such a waste.
if asik didn't have the hands and hops of a 5 year old he would start... loved in the game tonight when he put his finger up on that break away for an alley... no way in hell was he getting that lol
Yet even with that mid-range jumper Howard easily score more per game than Asik and has done so his entire career.
