Bumping to add an app that deserves to be noticed. SuperBeam makes WiFi direct easy, using a simple QR scanner feature to allow fast file sharing between devices, especially if they're on the same network (though it will work if they're not) . And it's free.
What launchers are you guys using these days? Looking to replace TouchWiz on a new Note3. I'm used to Apex/Nova but am open to something new. Stability is good. Stock Android experience is also great but I can handle the more "out there" launchers if they're good.
What is it like? I was about to try Buzz but you never know which ones have stability issues or lack of continued support.
Is their a way to change the background color in Hangouts? Grey/white is boring, I wish I could customize that. It didn't bother me much until Google integrated SMS with Gchat. Now I'd like to take advantage of that functionality and ditch my stock SMS app but the look and feel is boring.
You can use your contacts to find profiles on Instragram, but can you find the number associated with the profile? I can see a profile on Instagram, I know it's being displayed because the person is in my contacts, now how do you find the person's number in your address book?
I'm sure everyone is familiar w/ Pushbullet by now if it hasn't been mentioned. Notific turns on your screen and puts your notification front and center as they come in. Convenient when your phone is laying next to you, you can just look over to see what a new notification is w/out touching your phone. Love the Hangouts/Google Voice/SMS integration BTW.
if you have a non moto AGENT is a good app to have. gives you that do not disturb mode, and text to speech while driving and you can respond as well.
Yeah, I'm starting to really like it. At first when it came out, I was a bit confused on how to separate sending texts from Google Voice and my carrier. After I figured that out though, it seemed pretty easy to use. Even getting voicemail there makes it easy to use one app for all of that.
Decided to bump my original Android apps thread. Holy crap I forgot I started this w/ the Droid Incredible. I eventually moved on to the Samsung Galaxy S3 and I recently took the plunge on the Nexus 6P during the holidays. Just wanted to see what people for a few things. Here's what I'm using now but still not settled on yet: 3rd party camera app: A Better Camera. Built in Nexus camera is fine, but there's few options and pics have been coming out on the slightly dim side. I've done quite a few tests and A Better Camera takes slightly better, brighter pictures. And lots more settings to tinker with. Unfortunately I can't make it work with the Nexus shortcut to launch the camera though (hit power 2x quickly). 'Scanner' to take pics of documents and turn them into digital formats (most likely PDF): I previously used CamScanner but now I'm trying Genius Scan. I forgot why I made the change but there was definitely a reason... Soccer scores/news app: I used One Football which was fine for scores, but the news mainly came from club sources, meaning they were just happy news items promoting teams, but little in the way of transfer rumors or real analysis/debate articles. I just switched to ESPN FC. All-around sports app: Basically just something really easy and simple to use to track sports scores for basketball, football, etc with a nice interface. I'm using Yahoo Sports atm.
