Anything seems possible here. In a better world, both the accuser and accused should take polygraphs. It's not a panacea, but if there's no value in it, then why the hell would the CIA use it on its own employees all the time. I hope justice comes to whoever is at fault here (raping Winston or lying accuser, and possibly obstructionist local corrupt police detectives).
I think it's just a terminology that differs from state-to-state depending on the written law, but iirc, it's rape. Rape is "sexual assault" in some states, "sexual battery" in states, and "rape" in some states. I'm not a legal expert...just going from interviews I've heard from those legal experts on espn...Cossack or Muson or something.
I must say...this is looking a little more interesting than I previously thought. I still say innocent until proven guilty, but I wouldn't be surprised at all if this effects his Heisman chances.
wont matter if he doesnt win it, in 5 years if these allegations are proven to be false... and manzel or mccaron win the heisman, he will still be seen as the best qb that year who was screwed out of the award, especially if manzel loses to lsu and mizzou which is HIGHLY possible
If Manziel loses to LSU and Missouri, and Winston gets arrested, Mariota will probably take the Heisman if he closes strong.
The woman said the male was between 5'9 and 5'11. Winston is 6'4. You don't confuse 6'4 with 5'10. This whole story sounds like that woman's goal is to slander Winston.
That's very possible. It's also possible that the story is incorrect, that she wasn't drunk, and that it was Winston. No one knows other than those involved (or not involved) unless there's dna or some other form of evidence.
I don't see any way that you can confuse someone who's 5'9 with someone who is 6'4. Maybe she was assaulted by someone else, saw Winston later on and blamed him. Or maybe her and Winston had a relationship that didn't work out and she wants some publicity. Or maybe it is something entirely different. Either way, this has many signs of being BS and slanderous. What a coincidence that she comes out with this as Winston is emerging as the clear cut Heisman favorite...
all that goes out the window if the police are meddling and "changing" people's stories... don't anchor on the early news releases...there could be a lot of misinformation that biases people (like the Trayvon situation)

DEVELOPING: DNA report connects Florida St. QB Jameis Winston to accuser. This does not prove a crime was committed. That's fairly damning, but they're right. That doesn't prove a crime. This will undoubtably affect his Heisman chances.
Did you bother to read the article? It seems like step #1 to answering basic questions... Police obtained a sexual assault kit on Dec. 7, 2012, when the accuser reported the alleged incident had occurred at an off-campus apartment. Winston's DNA was recently obtained through a buccal swab he provided to authorities investigating the case.
funny that you mention that because prior to these allegations, many people thought that even though Manziel IS the best qb this year, winston would win it cus of team record/manziel's reputation
Manzel will leave college football without winning a national title, he will be forgotten soon enough. Manzel is also a small frail 6'1 running qb.. he wont last in the nfl
Manziel signs an autographs (allegedly) and is crucified for the transgressions almost automatically...Winston rapes someone (allegedly) and is innocent until guilt is proven and people are still talking about JF's character issues. Last I heard college kids drink and act stupid, not a real good indication of character, just quickly anointed fame getting the best of someone.
Jameis Winston was 1st in total QBR.. and has set a record for total QBR for a freshman qb( breaking Andrew Lucks record thus far), he is also the best 3rd down qb in college football... but whatever
