    This is more like it:

A similar scenario could unfold in the coming weeks and months with the Rockets amenable to trading unhappy back-up center Omer Asik. Houston could enhance its championship credentials by adding Rondo to a lineup that includes Dwight Howard, James Harden and Chandler Parsons. In return, the Celtics may have interest in both the 7-foot Asik and Jeremy Lin, the point guard and Harvard graduate. McHale is now Houston's head coach and Rockets GM Daryl Morey started his career in the Celtics front office.

Let's not get ahead of ourselves. Considering the cap and dollar for dollar, Felton was better and produced more wins than Lin last year.

If you only look at last year, SAS was correct on his assessment!

Shumpert is a good defender, but no where near fair value for Asik. Wishful thinking on the part of the New York media.

Ask yourself this question: is there ANYTHING on the Knicks roster you would accept in a trade for Jeremy Lin?

Say the Knicks wanted him so bad they would give up anything, salaries permitting. Who would you take back? JR Smith? Amare? Bargnani? All these players are on BLOATED contracts, and it would seriously hamstring us going forward to take on any of them.

Even Carmelo would be a hamstringer; you could probably take him and make Parsons a 4, but how effective would Harden be next to a ballhog like that? Carmelo as a 4 on Team USA is a different story because the 3pt line is closer. He might be the most dominant player in International Rules basketball there is, but in the NBA it's a different story. I have strong reservations and doubt that any team headlined by Carmelo Anthony will ever have a shot at the NBA title. So long as better guys like Lebron and Durant are in the league.

The ONLY guy I might trade Lin for without questions would be Tyson Chandler, and even then you'd have the Asik conundrum. He'd be coming off the bench in a limited role and have to be willing to accept that.

On the other hand, you could just hold on to Lin, a bonafide 20ppg scorer with a likely 40% 3pt shot in his pocket now. Making 8M per year for the next two years. Who would have thought he would become this valuable?

agreed! melo is free in 2 years. if they don't right the ship he's gone. and how can they do that when they are saddled with contracts no one wants, an old team on the decline, and no pick this year. all they have is shumpert and they can't afford to miss the playoffs so they need to trade him for a big guy.

in 2 years their whole team will be off the books and they can snag 2 or 3 all stars. Love, LMA, deandre jordan, marc gasol, and rondo headline the pool. of course rondo may be extended by the rockets before then! seriously though, with or without melo leaving they just have to suck it up for 2 more years. then they can for sure get one of love or LMA to pair with melo. it actually makes a lot of sense for them to invest in asik now since chandler is on the decline. promise him a new contract, melo, love, hardaway jr, and whatever PG they draft in the summer of 2014 will be the starting 5, not bad.

Rondo's a career 24% 3PT shooter and a problem child behind the scenes.

    No, thanks.

Melo would work just fine as a stretch four.

Morey would get someone under the radar.

Rondo is not a good fit anyways.

Don't get a Allstar PG asset & get someone under the radar. That doesn't make sense, if that was the case we would have kept asik and never went for the biggest FA of the summer. It's all about assets if you can get them

I don't know how this would help the Rockets... And why trade your picks? I think it's better to go for a backup SF, center and picks since we can see that TJones and DMo are greatly improved and can pick the slack in the PF area.

Its not all about assets when trying to build a championship team. If we get an "asset" like Rondo we would be looking at a second round exit,he isn't a fit on this team. Also under the radar moves can help now to contend and be flexible later depending on the contract and etc.

Rondo isn't really that much of an asset right now. Between his injuries and problems with the former big 3 of Boston (aside from the fact that he can shoot), I don't know if he's still a viable alternative for the Rockets.

I think Rondo does things that Harden cannot. Things like actually play defense, I don't think that he has a high turnover ratio, and he dishes the ball very well to everyone. The two things that I hate about Harden are the fact that he can't play defense at all and when he goes hero ball at the end of games and holds on to the ball for like 22 seconds and then forces up bogus shots. If you put the ball in the hands of a true PG that won't happen as much and on the defensive side of the ball he would make a huge impact. Don't see why he wouldn't fit on this team.
