The only mistake the Rockets made was trying to keep him happy, which probably cost them a couple of victories. He should have gotten the tough love treatment during training camp, told not to expect more than ten minutes a game, and that a positive attitude would make it easier to trade him, and that a poor attitude would probably keep him on the roster all the way to the deadline and maybe even until next Summer.

So why should the Raptors be interested in Omer, they have Valanciunas who is 20 and has the potential to be better than both Asik and Howard and the Raptors are rebuilding too,I think we should wait for Millsap,Asik gets out of the conference and we get a pretty good power forward.

millsap or horford, either one would make sense for both teams...

They probably view Valanciunas as more of a Tim Duncan type a few years later. Jonas V. has a nice array of methodical post moves, but hasn't really shown much away from the basket yet. They would definitely ride or die with the Asik/Jonas twin towers if I had to guess.

I have no doubt that Masij Ujiri wants to get involved in the Asik trade because he has the contracts of Gay, Fields, Novak, and maybe even DeRozan to get rid of. Even if Omer isn't ideal for Jonas Valanciunas, he still represents an opportunity to clean a few bad contracts off of his books while experimenting with a situation that puts the spotlight on their best young prospect.

Because Asik demanded a trade, his value has dropped. Teams know that we are desperate to unload him.

I'm thinking we might end up with Ryan Anderson or Brandon Bass.

I don't think he can be traded yet. As for Ibaka, why would the Thunder want to help us? They took so much heat for the Harden trade, Morey would have to offer them the Moon to get their attention. And Ryan Anderson is injured (and in a funk) and İlyasova has been battling injuries (ankle sprain). And other teams we assumed would be tanking are playing really well and might not want to tinker with their chemistry. In short, Asik picked the worst possible time to cause a stink. It's going to take another Morey miracle to get back fair value under these circumstances.

Morey rarely acts out of desperation. I have no doubt he'd be perfectly content to keep Asik until the trade deadline, knowing that Asik will eventually realize that refusing to play (or play hard) only hurts his image.

No way the Bucks trade the Greek Freak for those scraps.

Right... since when has Morey made a trade out of desperation. You forgot that Asik has zero negotiation leverage. Teams already know what sort of player he is; great rebounder, very good defender, and good enough on offense to be a double-double machine. Those guys are rare no matter what as a big man. There is no desperation here besides maybe Asik. Teams will want him and we don't have to give him up this year. We can even wait until next year I think as well. The only question would be if his unhappiness affects the locker room.

Trading for Ryan Anderson is trading him now for whatever you can get.

How is he that much better than Casspi?

Wow just blowing a major asset.:(

Ryan Anderson had setback on his foot injury recently, and he's a major defensive liability last year according to RAPM.

I'm not surprised Rapters is "highly interested" in Asik. Their new GM is a believer in advanced stats when in Denver(Lawson and Faried are top3 picks in advanced stats pre draft). Asik is a monster/superstar in RAPM.
