Pretty much everybody sucked the first game vs OKC, Lin injured early in second game, and Bev got torched by OKC's backup PG...

Your trolling adds nothing to the discussion, jackass.

A better question is why it matters? We need both to play good defense. Their styles of defense are different, which is a good thing for matchups.

Unfortunately, this poster is the most common type of poster today.. Just check every sports blog and it's the same ones without watching the games making the same comments. Shame on all of you for hating on a Rockets player for no reason at all.

So we are just going to ignore the 60+ points Paul was able to produce on Lin with only 2 turnovers because Beverley did not play in that game?

Bev is a better on ball defender and is excellent at getting around screens. He has the ability to stay in front of his man (with the ball), which is very rare.

However, he leaves his man (when he doesn't have the ball) too quickly too often and is caught out of position. This happened last night and the coaches quickly brought him over to discuss after he gave up a wide open three.

He has extremely quick hands and his lateral movement is excellent.

Lin has improved quite a bit where one on one (on ball) defense is concerned - at least so far this season. He too has quick hands, but doesn't have Bev's lateral movement or ability to stay in front of his man.

Lin has always been a better help defender, which is how he gets many of his steals (and deflections, digs and tipped balls).

Both gamble but Bev's is more when going after offensive rebounds and upsetting the court balance (which can lead to opponent fast breaks and easy buckets) while Lin's is more going for steals, which can lead to open threes.

It'll be interesting to see if Lin can continue to put up the defensive numbers and ratings he has so far this year.

lol... no one is ignoring it. Lin got TOASTED.

But, it's ONE GAME...at least this year... and it's by the best PG in the league. Guy has improved, man... give it up - at least a little.

The defensive ratings he posted against Walker, Calderon and Lillard are IMPRESSIVE. (doesn't take much to put up the numbers he did against Tinsley...lol)

What is the use of on ball defense when he is having more off nights?

That is why 3 and D is so valuable. You get stops and at the other end can extend the lead by being a reliable and good 3 point shooter.

If he can't shoot his 3s consistently he is just about one dimensional apart from his O rebounding.

Lin has only played a few good defensive games. Tjhat doesn't mean he plays good defense. He has to bring it all the time. Bev is known for his defense. Even the other team commentators were praising him during the games. Evey now and then Harden will have a decent defensive game. That doesn't mean he is a good defender.

I agree. Hopefully it's just the injury that's caused his shooting slump.

That's what worries me about the Lin haters and those who'd prefer he is traded - if Lin is gone and Harden is ever injured or in foul trouble, we are SCREWED, especially in the playoffs. (flame away on the "But, Lin can't play in the playoffs...he's always injured")

We have NO ONE other than Harden and Lin that can break down a defense AND get to the line as well as create for others. Yes, we know AB can break a defense down, but he rarely gets to the line and he's an average creator (this coming from an AB lover!).

At least with Lin (if Harden is out for a game or any length of time) we have a proven scorer who can penetrate the defense and get to the free throw line - even in a half court game, which is needed in the playoffs.

I'd much rather things workout with Lin here as opposed to relying on Bev and AB. (unless Lin was moved for a PG that can do these things as well)

He played good defense this season. Just own up to it. Stats are there.
Clippers game was an aberration. Everyone was bad.

Here, let me help you with some advanced metrics for this season.

    Lin- 6 games
    Beverley- 3 games

Hmmmm, Lin sure looks like the better defender. I wonder why???

there are more things to worry

Howard not being the advertised 20pts and 15 rbs guy
    Omer sulking
O stagnant, D porous all, over reliant on the rim protector
    PF situation
Harden gives up on D totally
    McHale being stubborn
No deep bench, young guys don't get developed

PG position which was deep is now a question mark
    Injuries

So we're going to ignore zero/zero Kemba/Calderon just 'cause you choose to selectively hate one player on the Rockets and have NEVER made any positive comments about him?

I call BS about your caring about Rockets' wins to your face.

So you're saying Lin's not done one positive thing in any game for the Rockets in all the games he's played? What type of mother trucker thinking is that?
