Lin has been the better defender. And Patrick has played part of one game without an injury. So I'm not sure what conclusions people think they can draw from that sample size.
Lin has been better so far. But Bev has only played 2 full games, and off an injury. It's too soon to say anything meaningful.
LOF takeover. If you are being objective Lin is a better offensive player but nowhere close to Beverley defensively.
Bev has a chance to show he's a better defender by guarding CP3 next game. He should be helped by a better game plan from the coaching staff on how to play CP3 and Reddick but then again we're talking about McHale here. Bringing Haren off the bench will help our Defensive matchups
It depends,if you like Jeremy of course you will see him as a better defender but if not you will choose Beverly, but if you compare between the two of them w/ the last 2 games since Beverly came in from injury, Jeremy was better so far.Stat sheet will going to help a little bit,but the best way to look at it is to watch the game and see who will impact the game and Beverly ddn't impressed me so far
If Bev is a much better defender, why does our perimeter d suck so much last night in the first quarter?
I judge a players true skill only in the playoff competition. That's where Lin shows his true colors.
I'm just waiting for Clutch to call me out for being a bad poster... oh wait that Only Happens If I'm a Lin Fan.
Lin and Beverley have played two full games together this season. Beverley also played a portion of the game against Charlotte. Here are their defensive ratings from the two full games together: Lin DRTG vs POR = 088.1 (29m) Bev DRTG vs POR = 098.0 (29m) Lin DRTG vs LAL = 093.0 (31m) Bev DRTG vs LAL = 096.4 (34m) Beverley has the better season DRTG at this time, partially because he had a super-low DRTG (059.7) in the 10 minutes on the court against Charlotte, and partially because of the Clippers debacle which he did not participate in. So, the games in which both Lin and Beverley both played in for more than 11 minutes and did not leave due to injury, Lin has been the superior defender, according to the stats. Additionally, Lin is averaging about four times as many steals per 36 minutes as Beverley at this time. They are about equal in terms of blocks per 36 minutes. I don't know everything about the Synergy stats, but this data above from NBA.com may confirm some of what Synergy is saying.
Beverly is a better on ball defender. Lin is a better help defender. Against the PnR, Lin is a big PG, so he can fight through screens whereas Beverly gets stuck. I see Beverly being effective against PG who like to ISO, such as Rose and Westbrook, but poor against floor generals who run plays and run screens such as Parker and Nash.
