It's funny how many people hate on people who are trying to improve their lives.

Looks like you don't understand the problems associated with normalizing a fast food diet.

 

How much leverage do they have? With high youth unemployment, I honestly can't imagine much unless fast food restaurants have gotten a lot more sophisticated...

 

Do you know how much a landline costs and whether it's more cost effective than having a cellphone?

Do you know what kind of cellphone it is and what plan is taken up?

 

wonder why this hasn't caught on here.. I might get my order right for once and employees can find another avenue of finding their dignity.

Usually there is one cashier and a bunch of times they are sweeping and stuff.

 

If the wages for fast food workers come any where close to $15 an hour, expect to see a whole lot more automation in the fast food industries just like more and more automated machines are replacing workers in the factories.

 

Fast food is about maximizing throughput. If kioskitron shuts down during lunch, you'll need extra staff to take orders and deal with World Star Hip Hop situations.

 

What happens when tech support and analyst salaries go to $40 - 50 an hour?

Ummmm, so can the kiosk make the burgers too? Getting rid of cashiers is one thing.

 

I don't see the pay being that high*.

I worked at a place that had technicians working on small engines and end-user electronics, and the technicians, whose main job was to make repairs, were paid only $15-17/hour. This place did have good benefits though, and for the most part allowed for a somewhat flexible schedule.

*But who the hell knows what the pay would be.

 

What if they're on call same day to fix a broken machine during the lunch hour?

 

It's probably also worth noting that a lot of the franchisees or regional management could have started as front-line clerks early on; and are either biased or just more used having extra live staff handle customer service during high volume scenarios, or would like to have staff that can eventually cross train and handle multiple duties.

 

Another reason why these fast food companies are gonna replace the human element with machines...

 

Complete and utter terror? What happens when you have a question it's not programmed to answer, and it just stares at you?

 

Sadly wont ever work here...a class action lawsuit would be filed by teens everywhere...While i do think something like this could help, this is a form of discrimination based on age...
