I’m thinking about skipping this generation consoles and buy a somewhat ok gaming PC. Also I have an old Imac and need to buy a new computer anyway. I’m thinking about buying a computer this holiday season when the sales come around and just want to now if anyone here have an Alienware (X51?) computer and if they like it. Thanks
Agreed. If you're going to do a gaming rig, build it yourself. The hardest part is staying within budget and getting the right hardware.
Build your own, Alienware is overpriced. Here are some great tools: http://pcpartpicker.com/ http://www.videocardbenchmark.net/high_end_gpus.html Tips for a great rig: -8 gigs of ram for gaming (Quality over quantity) -SSD's are the biggest factor for the general load speeds. Startup in 15 seconds - yes please -From the benchmark link above, looks like the Geforece GTX 660ti is the best bang for your buck card right now.
I bought one b/c I wanted a small form factor PC (though wish it was even smaller honestly, its not that tiny). I'm happy with it. Yes I could have built one for less, but I had neither the time or inclination to do that anymore. I am a bit annoyed I couldn't get a dual HD option (SSD/HD), but I've seen some online guides how you can fit an SSD in there after the fact. Or you could buy one with just an SSD (their higher end models have it as an option) but it does cost more than doing it yourself of course...
For the size/performance ratio it's really hard to beat the price of a x51. Now the new models are coming with new Haswell processors, and a GTX 670. Pretty good performance for a box that size. Great for an HTPC/Gaming device. I plan on getting one too.
Built an awesome rig for under $1k. If you have a microcenter/frys at your disposal (newegg a given) you can definitely build what you want for less than Alienware.
BTW, i would wait till the next gen consoles came out. I'm not sure whats gonna happen with PC games. I dunno if companies are gonna bother releasing pc versions anymore
I am just starting the process of putting together a list for a new machine. How long ago did you build yours and do you still have the parts list?
People said PC gaming has been dying since the 80's and it's still here. And for the op, do not buy Alienware. Overpriced product. Go to a forum to seek help on building one, it's as easy as legos. You just need to make sure all your components are compatible.
I built no more than a year ago. spec sheet: Motherboard I dont recall, but it was a z77 motherboard between $100-$200 price range with bundle i5 3570k processor (bundled with motherboard) $189.99 NZXT Phantom mid tower (Red) $125 or so 16gb ddr3 1600 ram $100 small SSD $50-$75 old 500gb hdd (from old rig) free ($50) GTX 550 ti (from old rig, need to upgrade soon) free ($120) 600w power supply (from old rig) free ($65) I have a 27" lcd and had a 21.5" led. http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showpost.php?p=7117510&postcount=47 http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showpost.php?p=7129165&postcount=68
I was over my budget with mine, so i couldn't buy a monitor. Instead i use my LG led tv as a monitor with my wireless keyboard and mouse and my logitech gamepad that blows. Anyone know of a good and reliable wireless pc gamepad?
looking to get my rig a new display system. Wanting to do a triple screen, 4k resolution ultra HD. Looking for a GTX 670 as well. max vid card without upgrading my power supply really.
I'm planning on building another PC when Battlefield 4 comes out. I felt so ripped off playing Battlefield 3 on PS3 with only 24 players.
