Houston Rockets in the past 30 years: 5 times under 50% winning% 20 playoff appearances 3 western championship 2 NBA championship Golden States Warriors in the past 30 years: 8 times above 50% winning% 7 playoff appearances never pass 2nd round success my ass
And it's not too long ago that the 5th seed rockets beat the 4th seed blazers in 6 and took the eventual nba champion Lakers to game 7 despite losing superstars yao and t-mac.
I am so jealous of Golden State/Oakland fans right now.. This was suppose to be our fu-kin series if it wasn't for the Rockets chokin on di-k towards the end of the season..
Does this take George Karl off the list for coach of the year, enter Mark Jackson, Mchale???? Or maybe Popavich is the easy pick...
Why not Frank Vogel? Sure, it's the Leastern Conference, but Vogel and his Pacers are really good without their "superstar" Granger.
Vogel definitely a contender too, big time defensive team. Anyways i'm really pumped up for this game, I really would like to see how the Warriors perform because I believe they can take this series.
The coach who leads a defensive team that holds opponents to under 90 pts & sub 40% shooting every night, deserves way more credit than a coach who leads a high scoring team that scores 110 pts a night but gives up 105 pts. The former requires some serious discipline and focus. The latter only requires talent and energy.
Andrew Bogut is one of the NBA's most underrated defenders. He doesn't look very athletic like a Larry Sanders or Dwight Howard shot blocker, but he gets about 2 or 3 blocks a game and alters a ton of shots at the rim. He's not a leaper, he just knows how to be in the right position and times his jumps. And he's not a liability on the offensive end either. Like Omer Asik with a higher basketball IQ. People credit Curry and Jack on offense ... but it's the Warriors interior defense and rebounding, that got them a better record than Rockets and the Lakers.
both gs and hou are similar young and up and coming teams. But biggest difference is they finished the reg season better than us and didnt choke away games against crappy teams like we did with phx and such... thus they got the 6th seed and we got the 8th. And also they turned it up a notch in the playoff and we just played totally inconsistent and couldnt even take advantage and beat a OKC team without westbrook and yet GS upset a team that swept us. Not to mention curry >>> harden in the playoff.
yep, they're a much completed team with bogut manning the middle. But they took off the pedal last night against the spurs, just played thru the motion after curry's crazy 3rd qtr, thinking they'll just coast to a W.... spurs are too good not to come back , esp in SA.
Actually, the difference is that Golden State built up a sizable lead on the Rockets before the end of the regular season, largely because every Houston rotation player except Parsons was new to the team. The Rockets were 5-4 in April; the Warriors were 5-3. The difference is that the Rockets were 9-11 after 20 games and 21-20 at the midway point; the Warriors, who had much more continuity on their roster, were 13-7 after 20 games and 26-15 at the midpoint. That is the "biggest difference", not your bull**** narrative. Also, they didn't "turn it up" in the playoffs. They played a weaker opponent, and one without Gallinari at that. Curry, in particular, went up against two of the weakest defenders (Lawson/Miller) at his position in the league. Meanwhile, Harden went up against a stud defender in Sefalosha and a great shotblocker in Ibaka. Who gives a **** that Denver swept us in the regular season? It's called matchups, genius. And if you somehow think OKC is not an extremely talented team even without Westbrook, give Memphis a call. Speaking of those matchups, what happened when Houston matched up with Golden State? Oh, that's right -- we beat them 3 of 4 times, including a 30+ point blowout and two wins in their house. And speaking of comparisons, why don't we look at Harden vs. Curry? Oh, that's right -- Harden is better by all advanced metrics (better PER, win shares, etc.), scored more points despite shooting fewer shots, had more rebounds, steals, blocks, etc. Oh, and he did all this without the benefit of an All-Star alongside him, which Curry had. Any more nonsense?
