Seems like some team would LOVE to get their hands on Calderon's expiring contract. The problem being, of course, what the Velociraptors have to take back.

Still, if Calderon is the hangup, they'll find a deal, and will make the colossal blunder of throwing money after money in order to become relevant. Rudy Gay's good but he doesn't warrant that contract. Hell, we have a better RGay and he's making less than a million (for now, huh, Chandler?)

and this post isn't a broken record also?

just a friendly observation, teams don't generally trade for one of the worst contracts in the league, period. Let me repeat, period. The fact that Rudy has a market probably means that your statement is a tad hyperbolic.

Toronto signed Turkoglu to a 5 year 55m contract, Bargnani to a 5 year $50m contract.

His market is teams with terrible front offices with a history of such a thing, Toronto, Orlando (formerly), that sort of team.

True, they could probably get Amar'e for him.

That's not true. Teams frequently will trade for horrible contracts, to dump horrible contracts of their own. Heck, the Wizards trade for both Rashard Lewis and Emeka Okafor just this past offseason!

That being said, Rudy Gay is clearly overrated by some and underrated by some. He isn't a bad player. But he is clearly overpaid. A potential Toronto deal is seemingly being explored on the basis of Toronto actually wanting him for his skills principally, ignoring his contract issues. That blows the mind somewhat, but then it is Toronto.

I do like Ed Davis' upside. Not sure why Atlanta does the trade, though.

I'd take Calderon + Davis but I'd much much much rather give up Lin than Parsons. It's not necessarily a comment on each one's games, but one who fits better with Harden and who is paid more.

    How about - http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=bxsamnd

    Houston In: Calderon, Davis
    Houston Out: Lin, Delfino, Aldrich

    Toronto In: Gay, Lin
Toronto Out: Calderon, Kleiza, Davis, Fields

Memphis In: Fields, Delfino, Aldrich, Kleiza
    Memphis Out: Gay

I know most will say the Rockets give up a lot for little in return. It's kind of a salary dump of sorts. They'd get an extra $6.2 million of salary cap room in the offseason, and also would be open to find a better starting PG compliment for Harden. Probably giving up on Lin too soon, especially considering there aren't exactly an FA points worth signing that would come (CP3 isn't leaving the Clippers), but it does give you flexibility, and frankly Calderon is an underrated player, probably because he is overpaid. The real issue if you decided you wanted to move Lin, could you get more than a quasi salary dump?

Toronto gets Gay and Lin. They're pumped.

The Grizz don't save as much as they want, but do save money and cap space next year, and more in year 3 when only Fields is left.

Calderon would be nice off the bench, send away Aldrich.

    Definitely agree.

    Signed Gilbert Arenas.

And seriously, Colangelo at this point is just so ridiculously bad, from Bargnani to Ross over Drummond to the crap they put around Bosh. I feel sorry for the Raptors fans.

How about a Calderon rental for the Rockets?

    Houston receives:
    Jose Calderon

    Toronto receives:
    Rudy Gay

    Memphis receives:
    Landry Fields
    Cole Aldrich
    Tony Douglas

no way that the rockets will trade lin.. this guy is cash cow...

would be a great pick up for the rockets...

Jose Calderon with the second unit and his leadership could bring sparks to the club.

I'd trade Lin's contract for Calderon any day of the week.

Then flip Calderson to Boston for KG. The salaries match.
