Just the same, people come from all sorts of backgrounds, upbringings and situations, not everyone grows up mentally and physically tough, you gotta live and learn.

I respect your opinion and you do have the right to vent, but I hope some of you have alot more patience in real life situations for people that make mistakes. God forbid everyone tearing Royce down never makes mistakes in their own lives.

Sure. Just don't see the point or enjoyment of getting in on an angry internet pitchfork and torches mob against a guy dealing with mental illness. He isn't dealing with it in a productive way, but I doubt he is just trying to maliciously avoid doing work and taunt the team for fun. Why would anyone rational give up the potential of much larger future payday just to steal 2 yrs of rookie scale money?

Whatever anyone thinks here, Morey isn't just gonna waive him and try to void his contract to keep some chump change.

imo, it's safe to say after reading his bevy of tweets the past couple months that he's obviously not rational by any measure.

and whether there is malice involved (ie. he's trying to get paid for nothing or setting up a future lawsuit against the team) is not really clear either way.

Don't see why there will be a lawsuit. What exactly would be the lawsuit over? The Rockets rational course of action (and what they have already done) is working with White to help him have the best possible career. If it doesn't work, they can just decide not to pick up the 3rd and 4th yr option on his contract. Trying to void the guaranteed money on his contract is pretty pointless. Even if they can do it, $1.6M is chump change to spend in free agency and the NBA isn't giving HOU a draft pick back-- Morey knew the risk and took it.

again, nobody can really gauge the rationality or motives of royce white. 3 months ago, nobody could have predicted his actions thus far, which include bailing on the team right before training camp, bailing on the team right before his initial D-league assignment, and repeatedly denigrating the organization and it's management in a public forum. so saying that you don't see why there will be a lawsuit might end up being right, or it could also end up being naive.

in any case, if the team ultimately waives him, he could conceivably sue them based on what he and his attorneys will characterize as some sort of unfair workplace treatment for the mentally ill (or something along those lines). you say that morey will never waive him. but we don't know how bad things will get between royce and the team in the future. you never know what this guy will tweet. in addition, the team owner ultimately makes the call on what to do. and les' only public comments on the matter so far have been something to the effect that he's upset royce might end up being a waste of his draft pick.

His most recent tweets from today (including since the decision was made to send him to the D-League) include the accusation that the mental health plan approved by the doctors still isn't being implemented (presumably he's pointing a finger at the Rockets here)...and that "logic" isn't being applied.

I have no idea whether that means he'll report to the D-League team or not...

I think the fans have a right to be mad.

I don't respect how White has used his mental illness as a blank check to broadcast his relations with his employer even as his employer continues to pay him millions of dollars and is directly affected by the success of his performance.

There's dealing with mental illness, and there's using it to fan flames for not getting playing time in the league you want.

Royce has earned NOTHING. He was drafted on potential, and it's a damn shame he's wasting it away along with negatively affecting his reputation.

He could've totally handled it differently and within the confines of his mental illness, but he chose not to.

Why would they? You can bet if Morey knowing another team would pick up Royce, he would cut him tomorrow!

Save Rockets $$$ and free up a roster spot if another team pick up his contract. Royce is absolutely worthless at this time! Morey probably has to pay part of his contract if he is in a trade package.

if white does do well, we might be able to use him or trade him for another first round pick. even if he doesnt turn out to be good, well, the money is out of the owner's pocket.

    Makes no sense whatsoever...

If he does well, why would you trade him for a first round pick? He is a first round pick to begin with.........

Another twist and turn in this situation. I doubt he shows up. From his tweets he kinda seems surprised that the rockets FO assigned him to RGV without giving him every thing he desires. They should tell him there is a number 2 with no onions from Wendy's in RGV with his name on it. That's another thing I don't like about him. Why the hell doesn't he go to Whataburger.

Someone should strap him to a chair of a 20 hour flight, all alone.
