If you want to say that the Mavs got Mayo on a good deal relative to his talent, that may be right. But if you are trying to say Mayo is equal to, or better than Harden, I've got to say ...Hell No!
Mayo is a better shooter than Harden, defense about the same and Mayo is cheaper than the 5 years $80 mils. both play hero ball at times.
Harden >>>>>> Mayo Harden is a potential top 10 player in the league and alredy in the top 30 Mayo is a good player with that can turn into a solid starter but i dont see in him any star potential Mark Cuban ,even with this salarys, will trade for harden in a second. Enjoy Harden, is our future
LOL-I was thinking...and your point...Harden is 23 dude...and has played less than OJ, and has got to the finals....has won 6th man of the year, bc he volunteered for the 6th man role...who would you take, the guy that plays within a system...or OJ Mayo who is having a good start, kinda like he did two years ago I think it was, and the year prior to that...Hmmm.... This is a dumb thread starter no offense, but bad threads continue...since Lin arrived this thread wouldn't be as bad, but it's just too much, what if..this for that, tic for tack, bashing of other players playing well, etc...not just the OP's thread topic I know, but C'mon man, who would you take....
Delusional LoF, you constantly rag on Harden because people give Lin such a hard time. Difference is Hardens potential is Top 10 player in league Lins, not so much.
Mayo: Once a chucker, always a chucker. He's just lucky/hot right now because it's a small sample size. In the long run Harden will have a much better career.
You're talking about a guy who played along side Russell Westbrook and Kevin Durant vs Mike Conley and Rudy Gay. Get real, of course Harden is going to get the finals, and more votes for 6th man of the year. I'm not saying OJ Mayo is better than Harden, but it's worth a comparison at this point in the season as their stats and roles are very similar.
IMHO, for all that it is worth, this is a comparison of a budding superstar (or at least a perennial all star) to a solid NBA starter. What was the point?
no pressure on Mayo, he's playing with some superstars. Harden is playing with twinkle-twinkle letter stars.
OJ Mayo had a great rookie but quickly regressed because he didn't possess skills beyond his scoring. When you go into a slump, are below average defensively, and have little/no court vision, you're no longer useful. This comparison is, frankly, absurd. Harden gets to the line more (19% FTR compared to 10% for Mayo (up significantly from 7.7% last year), has excellent court vision making his teammates better, and is better at disrupting the ball defensively. That way, if Harden is having an off night, he can still contribute by passing the ball, rebounding, stealing, and getting to the line. This is why virtually everyone who has ever even glanced at statistics have Harden as one of the top guards in the league already, and Mayo isn't considered even close. Per-game metrics as an indicator of performances are dead. Look deeper into the numbers.
O master of the Universe, the Knower of the future, forgive me for not recognizing you at first.... Why it's so hard to answer a simple question? Any takers? When MJ firstly appeared were everybody excited about the best player of all time? or they didn't knew about that back then, and only later he deserved that title?
OJ Mayo is a great scorer... but theres something about his game that he lacks that Harden has. Harden has more potential on both ends of the floor
